Searching through the S7 website, I managed to price SYD-FRA-DME for sub $1K AUD after conversion. QF flight number for SYD-FRA-SYD legs then S7 to Moscow (I wonder if you can jump off at FRA and forget the Moscow legs?).

J comes out around $4.5K and should provide a healthy 640SCs

I don't see this lasting long :p

S7: SYD-SIN-FRA-MOW return, $1225 AUD - FlyerTalk Forums

Looks to be even cheaper than last time.

Select the fares that are 3660 RUB each way, giving a total of 27789 RUB (~940 AUD).

And from the fare conditions:

STOPOVERS
UNLIMITED STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT.

Fare Basis: OPOQFO1 (Economy)

Fare Basis: CTEQFC (Business)

Hey

I'm a newbie to the forum and flying...just wanted to know if its possible to buy this ticket but not fly from frankfurt to moscow...im dying to go to europe but the only time i can is around my works compulsory closing period at christmas...airfares at this time are around 3k to europe...

does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks

You will need to fly into Russia, and for that you will probably need a russian visa.

Note, that you can have a long stopover in Germany, and short stay in Russia.

See the other thread, for an older offer:
Sydney to moscow return, $1225 inc fees - FlyerTalk Forums

NB, there isn't much availability in O class over Xmas. The latest and earliest flights I could get were:

SYD-FRA-MOW 13 Dec 11
MOW-FRA-SYD 09 Jan 12

No, you can't skip the FRA-DME-FRA sectors

If you do it, the remaining legs of your journey are automatically cancelled as you are a no show

Unfortunately, this airfare is only super cheap for Russians that need to go to Moscow from Australia (as far as I understand it works both from Sydney and Melbourne); for those who do not have a dual citizenship, it's a minimum of $190 for a double entry transit visa and the cost of a ticket to go elsewhere in Europe from Moscow on top of your $940 return airfare to Moscow

Any suggestions on how to try to book a SYD-FRA stop over for a week, FRA-MOW for a week, then MOW-SYD return? Can't see any kind of multistop booking option on their website.

It does look like it would be a pain to get a visa though (reminds me of my trip to Cuba).

Using points seems to be the most affordable option to stay in hotels too after having a quick look.

At about $1000 I'm tempted to give it a go (or even try business one way).

SYD-Europe in July for $1000?!

Just crossposting slightly, in case interested parties don't read the other thread about travel to Moscow...

S7 has SYD-MOW (travelling on QF to FRA then S7) for under $950 leaving in July and returning August... make sure you use the 'flexible search' option for the cheapest tickets.

Beware, of course, that if you plan to use this fare to transfer elsewhere and it's not on the same PNR you may need a transit visa... Especially if it involves a change of airport in Moscow...

Re: SYD-Europe in July for $1000?!

I was just looking at this and they seem to be offering really cheap fares a lot of the time. For random dates in Sept I was seeing a J rtn from SYD to MOW for about $4,500. a Y rtn hop to MAN is about another $500 on top of that. If you need to get it into the UK then you could do a lot worse (QF is charging just under $10k for a J rtn to MAN/LHR at the same time). Not to mention the additional SCs

Re: SYD-Europe in July for $1000?!

Looks like a great deal. Might have to go to TA to get a longer stop over in FRA rather then from DBR.

Re: SYD-Europe in July for $1000?!

I went to a TA at lunchtime (well Flight Centre) and they could not find the flights at all. It would seem from here http://www.pointhacks.com.au/deal-sydney-europe-ok-moscow-900-qantas-s7/ that they are allowed. I have not been able to verify though. I will keep looking and see what I can come up with.

It also appears that we (I) are (am) going over old ground slightly.

Update

I scoured the S7 website and was not able to find any info on stopovers. The only option open to me was to call their partner in the country that I live. a rather amusing call later and it would appear that a stopover is allowed in one direction. This is based on the QF fare of $2,300 pp though. When I mentioned the S7 fare the sales consultant outright laughed at the meer suggestion of it. She near enough called me an idiot and a liar. I guess she doesn't read AFF.

another update

I contact S7 last night via email and they got back to me immediately. Stopovers are allowed in FRA only and are for all fare classes. It needs to be organised at the time of booking and can be done through their contact centre. I have the DDN but as it was given in a private email I am not happy to divulge on a public forum. However, Tuppaware if you want it PM me and I will send it to you. It would appear that they only service Sydney in Australia, but I have asked if they can ticket from Singapore.

The S7 contract staff are very good QF could learn a thing or two.

bumping the thread as I should have responded to the post rather than editing it. apologies.

I have tried booking this trip and I have found the dates for the rate of 3780RUB there and 3780RUB back. But when I continue the rate the first time I did it was the 29,000RUB approx.

Now when. Try again it keeps coming to over double 60000RUB.

I'm travelling in may I think 17th and returning on the 14th June. Im looking for SYD FRA (stop) ((FRA ZADAR FRA)) MOW FRA SYD. I'm going to book the trip FRA zadar FRA seperately.

I have just shown my Russian PhD friend this fare so he can go home in mid-June and return mid-August.

Needless to say, he is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry happy (relatively speaking for a Russian)... His fare we found came to just over RUB 32,200; or approximately AUD 1034.83, however he is planning to pay the amount in RUB using his Russian bank accounts.
