    Virgin Australia B737 Max 8

A320/1 Neo is also super quiet. I find it easier to doze off.

    Virgin Australia lounge in Cairns

While a lounge would be good, what this airport needs is automated bag drop.

    Economy X pricing

Probably trying to pull back some lost revenue with the reduced seat count with the new cabin. Virgin is heavy with fees across all parts. Change fees are stupidly expensive. I get more flexibility from Jetstar, which is why I’ve moved more travel to Jetstar Flex and Jetstar Fare Credit bucket...

No fly zone for Paris Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, July 26

I do have security concerns for this event, but air travel isn’t something that came to mind. Really do disagree with the decision, they should spend more time focusing on ground ops, not air ops.

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Ohhh the old New World Carrier thing again. Best that is not talked about, as there is no such thing. From memory they charged similar rates to what the soon be J cabin was. They would have been better off rolling out Economy X much earlier vs Premium Economy. It was a rubbish product and...

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

The Rex flight I flew the other week at 530pm left next to the Virgin gates which appeared full, traffic was largely suits, pretty much the standard traffic around the Virgin gates in peak. We had around 50 people on our Rex flight, majority appeared leisure, no suits. Jetstar obviously forms...

UA additions to AKL/CHC and BNE

So much capacity across the Pacific, all but ends any chance seeing Virgin running widebody ops again to the US. Unless they did a deal with United and replaced their capacity on some routes.

That is sad indeed. They could have just gone with what Alaska did. Is it really that hard?

    Ask The Pilot

Pilots. Are there any airports/strips in Australia that you have never flown into that you would like to.

Apparently engine issues with #2. Delayed for the moment. Considering crew hours likely cancelled as they fly right through to KUL

    Bonza Airline Discussion

You wouldn’t be able to drive the demand that Bonza did if it wasn’t for the lower cost fares, QQ would be double/triple anything that Bonza charged. Really just another Qantas entering the routes with high fares. They operated MCY-CNS prior but fares didn’t come cheap. I really think JQ could...

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

More SY-ML would make sense, but I don’t think they are actually growing passengers by expanding like that. It appears they just fly more empty seats. 10 flights per day would be good, every two hours, and perhaps hourly at 5/6pm. I think they need to bring in a cheaper ‘light’ fare, even for...

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Agree For this program to be worth anything, two things need to happen. A few million spent on lounge upgrades, and network expansion. You don’t need to spend tens of millions upgrading lounges. They are not huge spaces so won’t be as capex heavy. Transcontinental needs to happen pronto...

    Virgin Raises Lounge Membership Prices

Do many people even pay for these? I mean, many who want access probably fly quite a bit so would likely or status. My other half’s employer put out a QF Club offer many years ago for staff, nobody at all took up the offer at all, top asx employer also, no shortage of potential takers.

Last MCY aircraft Shazza is out tomorrow at 8 according to a post on my Facebook feed. That leaves only 1 left at OOL.

    Bonza Airline Discussion

It doesn’t really matter which low cost mob is looking at it, they all face the same conundrum, simply the high cost of operating here. Have a look at some of the numbers that has been reported, and it seems all but impossible to make money. Air Asia is about the only operator I would have any...

Qantas adds Brisbane-Manila but suspends Sydney-Shanghai flights

I thought they would have had enough QFF corp traffic to make the route work. When looking at the pricing from the other carriers, certainly is probably wise moving capacity elsewhere. However wouldn’t it have been good to move that A330 and do something from poor old Adelaide!
