The embarrassing, educational experience of getting "corrected" by a local

One time I was helping Germans with a dog find their way to the beer garden at the North Gregory pub in Winton. At the end of the exchange, I apologised for my rusty German. In a truly German manner, they responded with “It’s OK, you can practice!”

12 hours Sydney stopover domestic to International, same PNR. Luggage?

Luggage won't be checked through for the SYD-BKK-Samui sectors if you have an overnight in SYD. You'll have to check in at the F desk in SYD International.

The embarrassing, educational experience of getting "corrected" by a local

I can't think of anything in particular, but it's quite common in Germany for Germans to correct your grammatical mistakes as you're speaking.

    General Medical issues thread

Hmmm, hyperparathyroid rings a bell … I’m booked in with the Endo in Dec & might run my PTH numbers and calcium past Uncle Endo. And Dr Google tells me there’s memory loss as a symptom, so add that in to the middle aged woman memory issues I’m having, maybe that’s why I’ve forgotten what...

    What cheeses me off

When you post in a group about calcium content of a product because of hypercalcaemia and someone responds about how their blood sugars have been so good since taking the product. 🤦‍♀️ HyperCALcaemia, not hyperGLYcaemia!

    General Medical issues thread

Just back from a health assessment before I'm too old for this category of health assessment. ;):p Calcium levels continue to be up, GP a little concerned about that, so back to the endocrinologist who I didn't follow up with after my first couple of appts with her (was meant to see her in 12...

    What cheeses me off

Being sent a survey by the doctor's clinic to inform the doctor what my appointment is about tomorrow .... when I'm booked in for one of those 45-49yo medicare assessment thingies. Sigh.

    BNE International Lounge champagne

I flew BNE-SIN on Fri, 5 Sept. Went downstairs for the novelty on arriving, regretted it with all the morning sun. Only Seppelts or something sparkling in the champers tub at the bar there, didn't ask for better. I had to move upstairs when the downstairs area closed; I was delighted to find...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Weds 13 August We board CX165 also about an hour late. We were unable to change our seats at all on this leg, and we had middle seats at the front of the J cabin. Very efficient services from the FAs with OWE greetings and trying to take our orders for dinner and brekky on their iPad. Mr Katie...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Tues 12 August I slept pretty well through the flight and felt up to some brekky before our 5pm arrival! It's not just Qantas who do it! The pancakes were good, not sure I ate much else. After landing in HKG, I was amused to see we were still 46km away. It felt like we taxied for 46km to...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Monday 11 August I arrive in Zurich by about 10:30 or so and eventually manage to store my luggage in 3 different lockers. All the XL and XXL lockers (for my big red suitcase) were taken, well, all of those at the bottom. There was one in the middle height section, which meant lifting the...

    Thank you for your loyalty

Wow. Email received at 12:40pm saying the SCs will be moved into this year. And they're in my account, just checked at 12:50pm. Day 1 of my status year and I'm on 250 thanks to PCP and the SC gift!

    Thank you for your loyalty

I contacted QF through the website today asking if the 150 SCs could be credited to me this year (my status year starts today) as they were useless to me in my last status year.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

I was one leaf short of Green tier yesterday, and my year finished. Can't remember what I needed, but it was doable, I think. I didn't need the SCs, but maybe they'd have helped me think LT WP was possible before I turn 95. Now into the new year with one leaf.

    Katies do Euro Summer

Monday 11 August, Disembarkation day 😭 We woke to a beautiful day in Basel. And another industrial dock. Apparently, the harbour/river/dock bosses in Basel are quite thingy about where and when you can moor. We had brekky, hung around a little, and waited for our taxi. We had to disembark...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Yes, it's still Sunday, 10 August After chatting with Heidi and her friend, I walked back to the boat. It was lunchtime, so I went down to the restaurant and sat by myself. Not many people had stayed back. There were two half-day excursions; can't remember what the morning one was, maybe to...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Sunday 10 August, cont. On my walk back to the boat, I enjoyed my lemon and something else gelato - refreshing on what was becoming a hotter and hotter day. I walked past two young women with a chocolate lab, who I'd seen on the walk into town. I finished my gelato while on the footpath by...

    Katies do Euro Summer

Sunday 10 August About a month before the cruise, the cruise details suddenly changed in the Ama Waterways app. It listed our cruise as finishing in Breisach in Germany, rather than Basel in Switzerland. This set off a bunch of cruisers, worried about making their connections to flights from...
