Article: Great Value Turkish Airlines Round-the-World Fares

Like all Middle Eastern airlines (OK, parts of Turkey are certainly bordering ME). Fly them at your own risk, knowing what to expect.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Don't know about the stats for Australia, but I've just read in the Guardian UK that bookings from the UK to the USA are up 20% at the moment. Must be the lovely welcome that's possibly in store, (perhaps consider deleting some of your Social Media posts now).

Article: Virgin Australia Finally Refreshes Its Lounge Wines

Sorry, but I think that's wishful thinking. Virgin (Bain and their American consultants) have decided to replace pax who pay for their flights with those that apply for the (several) right credit cards. It's the American way... But no less in number.

Extremely Cheap Etihad Business Class MNL-Italy-SE Asia

Well that may (or not) be correct, but on my flight MNL-AUH in March, most seats in business class are already taken. I think there is a lot of demand for cheap quality bus class setas out of MNL. I've never been on an EY flight out of MNL that hasn't been full in J. But YMMV.

    Virgin resumes Sydney-Darwin direct flights

Yes, but at what cost? Pass.

Anyone else get invited to a survey about QFF today?

Yes, and I've declined to respond on the basis I don't want to be blamed when Qantas enhances the FFP based on "feedback". You just can't take Qantas at face value IMO.

    Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

Well. it seems that Woolies have decided that they're no longer going to offer decent promos, so I for one will no longer be directing my spend to them. Unfortunately, it's our nearest supermarket by a long way, so we do have to pop in for essentials like Panadol.

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Yes, I agree, a 330 would be far more preferable. However, for a booked flight to MNL in March, I remorsely felt I couldn't happily handle a 330 in Y from SYD (8 hours), so I cancelled it and booked CX PE for not a lot more. And I do expect to get seamless access to the First Class lounges in...

Cathay now also bans OW FF from pre-selecting seats

Yes, those zeros (I have 2) are crucially important. Leave them off and you're a nobody. I'm flying to TPE J in feb and it will be interesting to see how it goes. I'm expecting it to be quite seamless with lounge access....

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Yes, that's good, but 3x3x3 on a 787 for 10 hours with any amount of service is pretty brutal, from my perspective.

    Al Baker Is Leaving QR

Yeah, the service is variable and IMO Al Safwa isn't all that others have cracked it up to be. No doubt a great piece of architecture, but it felt "cold" and the staff were rather wooden. The Etihad FCL at AUH beats it hands down IME. And I just don't get why people are paying over the odds to...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

He must be immune to pain then. But each to their own. It will be interseting to see if this JQ venture is a success. From my own point of view, it's not a service I'd look at in any class, as I've been to Sri Lanka multiple times, and the airfares out of there towards Europe are no longer...

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

I wouldn't be flying out of OOL because of the fabulous lounge. But perhaps NTL-CHC might be more interesting. NTL-BNE-MEL-CHC. 180SC for <$1300.

He must be into self torture then. !0+ hours on a JQ 788?

Article: The Best Oneworld Airport Lounges in Singapore

Well, based on my own experiences, I'd rate the lounges as follows: QR - 1 QF(F) - 2 BA - 3 If you want decent(ish) champagne, don't expect to get it at the QF lounge. They're cheapskates when it comes to liquor.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

As I've said previously, the American system just doesn't work here (or in the UK with BA for that matter). Bain and co (and the poor shareholders_ will find that out, though at little cost to Bain, as they've smartly protected themselves, but for shareholders, no such luck. Oh, and I think...

AFF Review: Qantas A321XLR Economy Class (SYD-MEL)

I can only imagine that Matt didn't go for an extra legroom seat (free for him), because AFF wanted to publish a review that was relevant to the average flyer.
