    How does Hertz treat you

I'd be surprised if that was the case, unless it was a fully optioned top of thr line model. I rented an Audi Q5 last week and it would have been worth somewhat less than that. Nice vehicle nontheless. None of that Asian penchant for having the vehicle try to drive itself against your will.

    Incorrect panicked instructions to passengers

I imagine that if it was a ditching scenario the pilot's tone may have been a little different. And he/she likely wouldn't have just left it at that. But without a transcript of the conversations, we just don't know. It's purely conjecture at this stage, so no point in over analysing.

Personal greetings from the cabin manager - what can you (realistically) ask for?

Best personal greetings for me have been on UA, although quite a few years ago when I was 1K for many years. I've been handed a bottle of Veuve Clicquot several times and the odd bottle of red from time to time, for "being a good customer" or "it's your birthday". Same happened to my wife on a...

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Well, I do hope it gives the monopolistic and apathetic incumbents a bit of a shake up.

    How does Hertz treat you

Well, each to their own. My only experience with an EV was with a Hertz rental at LHR (as mentioned up thread), where I was literally forced to take the EV, as they said there was nothing else available (even though I'd booked a petrol car). At 6 am on a cold and rainy London morning you don't...

Higher SC earn on VA Holidays

Well, I for one won't be bothering with it. VA have made me see sense and shown me that there is now little point in spending money with them to earn status. It was fun while it lasted, but now it's gone. As a UA Plat (for life), I'll just use my MP status for lounge entry and priority boarding...

    Sydney ATC system outage?

I wonder if this was related to the Cloudflare outage?

    Qantas Lounge Gold Coast

Well, despite all of those fine improvements, I expect it's still basically a depressing dungeon. I much prefer the Virgin lounge at OOL.

Virgin Sydney Premium Entry Permanently Closing

Reminds me of a funny situation last week At MEL. It was around 7 am and I was heading to the priority lane at T3 (T4). I wasn't really organised, with the BP on my phone, which I was struggling with, so when the "policer" looked at me, she saw my BA Gold tag on my bag and said "that's fine...

    Qantas wine poor shipping quality

Have to say I've never had a problem with them, and the wine usually arrives within 3-4 days of ordering (to the ACT). Points are usually credited before the wine arrives.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

And do you think the NSW Govt is going to change this any time soon. Gravy trains are few and far between, so you don't let them go without a quid pro quo.

    Qantas Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge

IMO, this is by far the worst Qantas business lounge in Australia. Poor food options and no self pour. When I'm at BNE, I head to the J lounge, and at least have a decent drink. Unfortunately, no food (to speak of) there.

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Yes, that's a good option, but just being able to select a seat (for a small fee) beats the pants off Murray's sit where you are told approach.

    How does Hertz treat you

I rented a car at LST recently and was given an "upgrade" to a higher class vehicle. This was an Audi Q5, which was very nice. But there was a sting in the tail, in that Hertz charged me more than the quoted price for the original vehicle class (a Mazda CX30 equivalent). I didn't regard that...

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

Was in the MEL Dom J lounge on Monday, and there were plenty of the mesh towels in the shower cubicles. Same as were previously available in the loos.

Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Yes, I flew the 220 CBR-MEL recently in 6A and thought it was pretty good too. I also flew on the 321XLR SYD-MEL a couple of days ago in 7A and thought that was really nice. The equivalent of VA's Economy-X. So go Economy Plus!

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Just to wrap this up, my flight from LST to MEL today was cancelled. Luckily I returned my rental car early, and was able, via the lovely Qantas staff, to rebook on the LST-SYD flight that was departing in a few minutes time, so I got home to Canberra a couple of hours earlier than I otherwise...

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Well Poochie, today was the day I needed to get from LST to Launceston. I had decided that the bast way was to rent a car, as the cost was not much more than using Uber or a taxi. Driving along Evandale Rd to Breadalbane, I did notice that the paved bike track seemed quite suitable for walking...

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I'll be staying overnight in MEL tomorrow between flights. I was thinking to stay in the city, but really couldn't face the hassle using MyKi on the bus and train (and wasn't fussed about using SkyBus again). I do have a MyKi card, but have never used it. I've previously lived in Melbourne for...
