Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I see that Flixbus is now a thing in Australia. I've used them several times in Europe and IME they're fine. They have a promo at the moment for $9.99 for MEL-CBR-SYD (and points in between). I've just booked CBR-SYD (Dom) for next March for $9.99. Was going to take the train, but this is...

AirAsia X, KUL-MEL Premium Flatbed (1-2-1 config) and a KLIA T2 fiasco (or how to nearly miss your flight)

Yes, I've stayed at thr Tune KLIA2 and it's very convenient, but not particularly cheap for KL. I didn't depart on Air Asia, but had to go to T1 for my OmanAir flight. But it was still very convenient. KLIA2 is more of a very large shopping mall than an airport. It's a complete maze.

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Flixbus is fine. I'vre used them LJU-ZAG and VIE-BTS.

Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Not true. Those are paid extra legroom seats and only become availabe at T-24. Ask me how I know...

Virgin Wines offer: Earn 4,000 Velocity bonus points for $135

My wife received this offer. We're thinking we might go for it... But, it's Virgin!

Cannot add QF Frequent Flyer Number on Cathay's website

I booked a CX ticket yesterday on their website and there was no problem at all entering my QFF number. Indeed, if I hadn't done this I couldn't have selected the seats I did.. So I guess you didn't do this when making the booking. Perhaps you should be clearer about how the booking was made.

Article: Strategies for Cheap Business Class Flights to Europe

Sorry, I was being a little fascetious in my previous post. I've been to MNL many times, and know the ropes at T3 and T1, I do find it a little hard to believe that it was only 15 mins from exiting the aircraft to the Belmont. Perhaps a little bit of artistc licence, but I imagine that it was a...

A little like brain surgeons, in my experience. Thankfully, it didn't need to be done.

New SkyBus routes; Sunshine & Eastern Express

I'm really happy I could score a decent hotel deal near MEL (with free shuttle), rather than having to catch the bus to Melbourne or its suburbs. FWIW, I have lived in Melbourne (with my family) in the past, so I know how happy I am.

Article: Where to Find Accurate Airline Seat Maps in 2023

Whilst AeroLopa is useful in seeing the actual layout of the cabin, it offers little advice as to which seats are better or worse than others. I'm afraid you're on your own with this. But with a little imagination, and some research here and there, you can probably suss it out, to some extent...

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

I'm not sure if that is entirely correct, but if it was the case, then it has been gifted to them, rather than they have taken it. And, FWIW, I don't think I have ever seen many non-European faces in this process. YMMV.

    Upgrade Dilemma

Well, thanks for all your advice folks. In the end, I decided to bite the bullet with CX. Pretty good fare, PE one-way SYD-MNL (via HKG) for AU$1,291. Paper cups notwithstanding. I just didn't want to take the risk of ending up with an uncomfortable 8 hour flight in Qantas Y on the 330. Might...

Qantas Travel Insurance - so uncompetitive

Well, at least you could do it swiftly. As for me, I'll stick to the complementary CBA travel insurance, as it save me thousands over paid insurance. Anyone over 75 would know what I'm talking about.

    New Luggage Recommendations

    Upgrade Dilemma

Yes, I flew CX in PE, HKG-SYD a couple of weeks ago in a new config bulkhead seat and it was fine. The paper cups for the wine detracted from the experience somewhat, but was not a deal breaker. And the welcome prosecco drink was in a nice wine glass FWIW. Overall, quite a nice experience for...

    Upgrade Dilemma

If I book CX, I'll be taking the train up to Sydney the day before and staying in a hotel overnight, so quite leisurely. It is fairly close to Easter, so I would expect a number expat Philippinos and others may be travelling back for the celebrations. Hence a concern. I've looked at the seat...

    Upgrade Dilemma

Of course, but in that case I'd rather spend any extra money on a CX premium economy bulkhead seat, and also enjoy the three lounges at HKG, as well as the FCL in SYD. Unfortunately the exit rows on the 330's are next to the toilets.

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

Well, I have to say that I've been touching handles on toilet doors (and other things) for over 70 years, and I'm still here (almost unscathed). That's not to say that I haven't succumbed to other things though. Heart and brain come to mind.

What makes a good airport and what's your favourite?

The whiskey is a bonus though. And a smattering of snack food.

    Upgrade Dilemma

I've tried to distill an answer for my questions from this forum, but have failed. I have a paid one-way economy S class ticket CBR-SYD-MNL for late March, to "connect" with an EY business class ticket to Milan the next day. This was booked with Amex travel to use my $450 credit. I'm now...
