One thing that VA does (much) better than QF. It returns points immediately after cancelling a reward booking, and processes the cash refund straight away.

That's true, but I would book Ryanair every time if there was also a Wizz option. Follow the rules with FR and you'll be fine (more often than not). Let's face it, FR is an Irish airline and Wizz is a Hungarian airline. You be the judge.

These are good questions. But from my experience, there's little in it for the average traveller, or, indeed, the business class traveller. So just cost saving. Given the choice I'll fly a 738 over a 223 anyday, in any class. And also the quality of the flight attendants.
