Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

What doubt? Under AJ she was the head bean counter, and now she's unfettered in her bean counting. How could things possibly improve? The board knew what it was doing when it appointed her. That is, to screw the pax and maximise the profit by any means that was vaguely legal.

PR Now Using Wamos for flights to SYD/MEL

I've just received an email from PR to say that my July flight SYD-MNL in J has been changed to a Wamos A330-200. Looking at the seatmap on EF, it's still 1-2-1, so not such a big deal, but there's no indication of what rows have window seats vs aisle seats (if you know what I mean). Anyone...

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

Not sure what you're referring to, but I'm quite happy with the benefits I receive from EY, as a VA Plat, in terms of VA points, SC's and first lounge access at AUH. Also helps me get VA Plat every year.

Short turnarounds: Have you flown back from your destination with the same crew?

I've done ORD-SJU-ORD quite a few times (about 20 years ago), on the same aircreft and with the same flight attendants. About 90 minutes in San Juan, PR. This was when I was within sight of lifetime Platinum with UA (which I now have) and I got to know some of the crew quite well, as they were...

How well do you sleep on planes?

I always take alcohol (hopefully of a very nice persuasion) and it gives me a few hours. In the past I've taken rohypnol and let me tell you, alcohol is 1000% better. With alcohol, no jet lag, maybe a small hangover. I know which I prefer.

    Why can't MEL have a LAX-style walkway between T1/T3 and T2 airside?

Yes, that's the point. Too lucrative for vested interests for a change to be made. If the current Govt can't do it, subsequent ones certainly won't. (IMO).

FINNAIR - new Business Class AirLounge seat

Didn't know they flew to Miami USA. Flying CPH-HEL-BKK in J later this month. Just love the huge seats (and the service from the Finnish flight attendants).

    You haven’t lived until…

Done all that. So what's next??? Edit: I now opt for a slightly quieter life when travelling.

    The House - Melbourne International

I just don't like these American inspired cost-cutting trends in Lounges, and avoid such lounges where there is an alternative, I imagine tipping the barman may become "mandatory" next. Hence the SQ lounge.

    The House - Melbourne International

Another thing. My wife informed me tonight that when she travelled SYD-AKL-RAR (R/T) recently, barmen had replaced self-pour alcohol in the NZ lounges. Surely this is a negative for NZ?

    The House - Melbourne International

Yes indeed, NZ lounges certainly are bright, they remind me of a 1950's American Diner, all chrome and white plastic. And uncomfortable chairs. But if that's your thing, fine. It's not mine.

Big discount offered by travel agent

What safeguards would you have after you've transferred the $6.5K? Not too many I would imagine, and that's the key. Asia is quite a long way away in more ways than one.

Aussie carriers that work well in the UK?

Indeed, I always take my Three UK SIM (with a data/voice add-on) whenever travelling to Europe. As I'll be doing this weekend. They are quite complementary IME.

Aussie carriers that work well in the UK?

I've been with Amaysim for quite a while and find their roaming plans are cost-effecive and work well. IMO, Optus roaming is a rip off.

    The House - Melbourne International

Personally I don't think it's that sad (of course it could always do with a bit of refurb or relocation), but I dislike the current NZ approach to lounges generally. I much preferred the previous style of NZ lounges. I'll be puting my money where my mouth is (again) this weekend when I fly...

    The House - Melbourne International

All I can say is that I was in the Marhaba lounge a couple of weeks ago and found the breakfast (and everything else) to be fine. It's what you would expexct in Australia. Eggs, Sausages, etc, plus the usual alternatives. Not sure what you had in mind. Also, self pour sparkling white (essential...

VA Velocity - Advance availability with Singapore airlines

On this trip, I'm visiting my sister in the UK and then flying to Thessaloniki (SKG) in BA J. Then a few days in ATH (flying GQ) and on to Istanbul on A3. After that, back to SIN on SQ in P and on to KUL (TR) and then SYD in J on PR . Should be nice trip (I hope). I'm not visiting anywhere...

VA Velocity - Advance availability with Singapore airlines

FWIW, it appears that there is quite a bit of SQ availability to Europe in business in March/April next year. I've been looking at what's available for the last couple of days, and today decided to book BNE-SIN-LHR for 139,000 points plus $490, which I thought was a reasonable deal. Better to...

Philippine Airlines Business Class deal: KUL to Australia under $1,400 return

Looks like these cheap business class fares might have been withdrawn. I searched google flights today and couldn't find anything under $2,500 ex KUL to anywhere in Australia on PR. I booked one of these cheap fares recently for travel later this month, so I may have been lucky?
