    Solar Panels

Yep, my 5kW inverter, with lots of day-time self-consumption, managed 331kWh feed-in for the month of April. Earned me about a dollar a day at 10c/kWh.

    Solar Panels

Its actually two pumps and the chlorinator. One pump for the main filter and pool circulation and one for the pool solar hearing that pumps to the heating tubes on the second story roof. They are not variable speed. The heating pump does cycle on/off as needed. Normally this time of year the...

    Solar Panels

The burst around 10am is hot water system. My home automation system monitors solar generation and when it reaches 4kW (or at 10:30am if cloudy) it turns on the HW system. When the power to the HW system drops to zero, it turns on the pool pump/chlorinator. The second, smaller peak around 1pm...

    Solar Panels

Mine is 13 degrees east of north. Yesterday was a nice sunny SE QLD autumn day. 6.6kW of panels, 5kW inverter.

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

Thanks for your review. I have a booking there later in the year, using my Ambassador free weekend night voucher (Saturday-Monday stay). I chose it due to location and trying to get good value from the voucher, given the hotel costs in the area. Planning to use train from JFK to Penn Station and...

Why don't hotels make it easier to order room service?

And you may well also experience a language barrier trying to order room service in Edinburgh!

Why don't hotels make it easier to order room service?

Yes, I also dislike the option at a cafe/restaurant. And agree it is coughbersome viewing the full menu on a small device. Some places do a good job of categorising menu sections to avoid scrolling, but some are atrocious. But I think I would be happy to use such a process for hotel room service...

    HKG airside hotel

I have used the Novotel Kingsgate hotel which is close to HKG airport and has free regular shuttle bus service. I have found it to be better value than Regal. These two seem to be the popular airport hotels. But as already noted, there is no air-side option, so you need to go through immigration...

Why don't hotels make it easier to order room service?

The QR code option would seem to make sense. Plenty of cafes/restaurants went down that path during Covid and the technology seems to work well, sending the order directly to the kitchen and knowing exactly which room/table placed the order. The menu could easily be presented in a number of...

AAward - change from AAdvantage Number to Qantas FF number

When presented with the passenger details section, remove your name from the first passenger field and tab to the next field. That will present a prompt to remove all passenger details and then just add in again using your own name but select Qantas as the FF program and enter QFF number. Just...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

I will look for them. I have not been through CLT for over 20 years and have no memory of what it is like. Are these chairs in the gate area or the AAdmirals Club lounge?

AAward - change from AAdvantage Number to Qantas FF number

I found it best, if I remember, to set the FF details when making the booking. Obviously when logged into AAdvnatage account it will default to fill in my AA details. I try to remember to remove my name from the first traveler details, then it will remove all the pre-filled details. Then I add...

Can't use Australian credit card for AAdvantage reward booking

And as a follow-up, taxes component was refunded within a few days. Received email confirmation the refund had been processes within 48 hours of cancelling old flights, and seen in the credit card on-line transaction history within another 48 hours. And I came out $0.14 ahead ($0.07 per pax)...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

And then I assume a transfer needed between JFK and EWR? How did that play out (transport type, time, cost)?

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

I hope the EWR connection works out for you. I have a few transits through CLT in a few months, so will think of you as we pass through.

    Helsinki to Tallinn reward seats

If journey is just between Helsinki and Tallinn, then I would also recommend the ferry. The ferry terminals at Helsinki and Tallinn are both easy waking from the centre of town (maybe not so easy in mid winter). Neither airport is walkable from the city centre.

Can't use Australian credit card for AAdvantage reward booking

Again used my 28 Degrees Master Card today for an AAward booking - all on-line. I was notified today of a change to one of my upcoming AAward bookings - a new flight number and slightly different departure/arrival times (within 10 mins or so of original). I noticed this change also involved a...

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

Amazing. All on one booking/PNR/ticket? Hopefully all the connections come through, especially for different airlines/alliances.

    Your longest trip point-to-point?

I think we have a winner!! I hope you are the pointy end for at least some of those sectors, but of course that is where I would expect you to be ;). 23,311 miles on connecting flights! That's dedication for a 611 mile journey!
