    Some possible "non issues" include: - No F on the 330s (often there's no IFE either). - Adds ~2 hours to the journey. - Possible to misconnect if late leaving Melbourne. - Introduces chance for baggage to misconnect even if you don't.

    Surely that's Y and not J though? On the whole there does seem to be more CR availability out of SYD than out of MEL, even for routes with similar number of flights. Much easier to get SYD-CHC than MEL-CHC, for example.

    My impression is that classic awards have been severely reduced, particularly in J, since Classic+ launched for domestic. I used to be able to get MEL/ADL in J with one or two weeks notice - now, there's usually nothing except the 6am flight within several months. Don't even think about MEL/PER...

    You're supposed to have a choice of meal in J but there's no guarantee one will be meat free. (And lately I've found there's often no choice anyway). You should request a vegetarian meal in advance if you want one.

    Flexi fares just mean they can be changed without change fees, it doesn't mean the change is free :) Y is full-fare economy, which is usually very expensive and often more expensive than discount business class.     The domestic QC has the advantage of large windows into the departures hall, which does allow (indirect) natural light in. Artificial lighting can never really make up for lack of natural light.
