I could see a NRT - WSI route pair for Zipair. Still "Sydney" but would be a lot more competitive as a LCC vs JQ (direct tokyo vs one stop) for leisure travellers and also not eat into the premium route for JL.

With hindsight im sure they would've had the 350 seats developed and ready installed into the 380s during covid. At this point in time, not sure if QF would fo through another refresh on the 380s.

That's the point of why the 380s are inconsistent and suffering right now. That in theory they dont need to be doing maintenance in summer 24/25. Situation wiuld be very different if QF had all 10 of their a380s flying instead of 6.

OW partners first? They probably came to an agreement with CX and JL as well. Also JL and CX have competitive products. You could even in theory get an F seat on SYD - HKG if you get the 777-300ER. Or maybe CX deploys the refurbished 777s on SYD -HKG and you get the new Aria suite.

Most staff will not have the right training to give you the correct answer. Also given the timing they may not have gotten the memo on what to do specifically for SYD/PVG passengers.

I suspect depending on which call centre and staff shifts, some workers may not even be briefed yet on the situation and just think you want a rebooking/ change.

Likely F+J which are priced as one F + one J where as F all the way through may not be priced the same. The $$$ tax component is standard EK high taxes these days.

QF 38 also doesn't go to SYD but MEL and runs an a330. Are you sure you don't mean QF38 SIN - MEL and then you ended up looking at the MEL - SYD connection the next day? (That would show a 737).

Afaik zipair is the only airline in the world doing this. Air Asia has their angled flat bed which is probably the closest and an airline that does fly out of Aus. Maybe in the future we may see ANA match JL with AirDo if Zipair does well but for now this is definitely the exception.

I just stayed at Mantra Tullamarine Airport which has ondemand airport shuttle. Probably a much better travel than lugging luggage over to T4 and beyond. Decent rooms. Main reason i stayed was the $110 red hot room deal though.

Proactively offered on QF41 on May 9. SYD - CGK. I politely declined as i had one in my carry-on and im trying to work out what to do with the spare PJs.
