We've heard again from QF on Tuesday 10 March re further cuts to flying, the larger affect being on its international flights.

Other AFFers are being logical when they suggest VA will follow with further reductions kin flying.

However media haven't really commented much on ancillary jobs.

What about staff at catering contractors worldwide?

Baggage handlers?

Contracted check-in staff?

Car rental company staff at airports?

And even, with lower passenger numbers, casual or part time staff at airport restaurants, cafes and shops?

Logic tells me some or all of these people will eventually lose their jobs, or in the case of casuals be offered minimal shifts (if at all.)

I wonder in suburbs/towns with high numbers of individuals who work for airlines or at airports - examples in Melbourne might be Bulla, Gisborne, Gladstone Park, Greenvale or Sunbury - will there in time be mortagee sales as units or houses are repossessed (though banks and other financial institutions try their hardest to avoid this.)
