I booked a flight with Etihad with a 13 hour layover in AUH on the way home to Melbourne. It was slightly cheaper and they said they were offering a free hotel for passengers with a long layover. There are various rules with one of them being that you cannot book the hotel for the return trip until travel has commenced. As soon as I completed the first flight, I tried to book the hotel and it says unavailable. I contacted Etihad but they said it is subject to availability, so in other words, tough luck. Anything I can do?

Good morning,

I flew to Paris in July and had a 24h layover on my way to France and 14h on my back to Brisbane, used the hotel twice and it was great.

Once arrived in France, I waited 24h before booking the return hotel room - as you cannot have two hotel rooms reservations at the same date - also need to be booked at least 5 days before your stay.

I had the same error message but I tried several time throughout the day - and tried both hotels offered (CBD or Airport) and a room came up one day - I booked it as soon as I could.
I'd recommend to try again - sorry, I hope you can resolve it as soon as possible.

Thanks for that info, it is very frustrating. I will keep trying and see if I get one.

No, I've tried many times with no luck. I feel very misled by Etihad.
I am sorry to read this :(
I would continue to try every day and maybe reach out to their Sales Teams from Australia. Usually via Linkedin, could be a possibility.

I tried calling and sent a feedback form on the website. Didn't receive a response. They keep saying it is subject to availability.
