I have a OWA in J mid-2023 with 4 flights on JAL all with seats allocated. Are you suggesting at some point that JAL will just remove my seat allocations?

Certainly happened to me. I was able to select a window seat ( 1-2-1 config ) and was reallocated a centre seat a few months later.
I had heard that JAL policy didnt allow window selection on award seats so was surprised when it initially allowed me to do so on booking

JAL don't allow windows to be selected unless you hold sapphire or emerald status and they actively kick you out of those seats if you don't hold that status.
