Friday historically would have been a day when some Australians (even outside of Christmas, Easter and other school holidays) might have occasionally jetted across to NZ to enjoy the scenery and a change from Australia.

Showing the adverse effect of NZ's harsh entry rules, NZ854 (Friday 11 February 2022, the 1245 hours SYD - AKL, B789 ZK-NZM, estimated to arrive 31 late at 1816 hours) had just 74 whY passengers in a 215 seat cabin. Surprising that so many are eligible to travel: most must have won the entry lottery. That's occupancy of 34.42 per cent in this class.
