This came out a couple of days ago:

American Airlines About to Announce Service to New Zealand - View from the Wing

United just announced they’re introducing San Francisco – Auckland.

On the heels of that announcement, it appears that American seems close to announcing Auckland – presumably Los Angeles-Auckland rather than Dallas-Auckland – made possible by:

  • Their closer joint venture with Qantas
  • The Boeing 787

The American Airlines 787
is a great ride in business class but could be especially tight in coach.

It's just a rumour at this point, but with United having just announced flights to Auckland and rumours about a possible AA entry to the New Zealand market having gone around for several months, I wouldn't be surprised to see AA flying LAX-AKL or DFW-AKL sometime in the near future.

Would be interested to see if QF then codeshare with australia > akl flights.

That would help with the 4 AA flight rule if they did

+1..... Will be great for competition.

A certain Jingle comes to mind :

" Down, Down the prices are Down"
