North American Airline Lounges - the way of the future?

One of our members was a little shocked at the value frequent flyers get in North American Lounges, with drinks and food frequently on a paid basis and more expensive than what may be available elsewhere in the airport. Hi all, I was very surprised the first time I entered a US-style lounge - first time was AA, and I've also been into UA lounges. The idea of paying $50 more

Paid discount versus loyalty program benefit confusion

Whilst hotel frequent guest programs have not been around as long as airline programs, they are increasingly getting more attention for the extra benefits and rewards one can earn as part of a paid stay. A development seen locally only in the last ten to fifteen years is the advent of a paid program that adds extra accommodation and dining benefits as well as discounts to your stay. more

The best sleep on a plane... is on the ground!

Sleeping on a plane is something many strive to achieve at the best of times, while others seem to nod off as soon as the plane moves. Airlines try hard to make your environment more like a hotel room, with seats that convert into beds. Singapore airlines even has a double bed style suite in their A380, while Emirates offers their first class passengers the luxury of a shower in the air. more

AFF Flight Tracker: medhead's Travels

This week we highlight medhead's travels as tracked on AFF Flight Tacker.  medhead writes "I started keeping detailed flight records when I took on a commute in 2010. AFF flight tracker represents my best attempt to reconstruct my life time flight history. I'll let you guess my weekly commute. My flights prior to 2010 have been pieced together from a wide variety of data sources - The Qantas Source, The VA source, that "once in a lifetime" round the world in 1978, Qantas and Ansett statements, boarding passes discovered when cleaning up (frustrating that the year is not listed) and mostly my memory of events like the 21st birthday of a lovely lass in Townsville, or rare work trips in my youth. The only notable missing flights are a little trip I took between YPPF, YBEE and PUG, you might notice the YPPF on the map. Once I add YBEE into AFF flight tracker this should appear."
