The Australian Frequent Flyer forum is full of useful tips, tricks and travel-related advice! This week our members share the best advice that they have received on AFF.

Numerous members have nominated the “Qantas T-80” trick as one of the most useful pieces of advice they’ve discovered on AFF. This trick allows anyone to pick the best seats when flying with Qantas. The airline normally reserves up-front and extra-legroom seats for frequent flyers with top-tier status. But any seats that are still vacant are released for general selection exactly 80 hours before the flight takes off (or at “T-80”). This knowledge has helped countless members to snag a great seat when flying Qantas.

Several members have chosen credit card churning as the most valuable thing they’ve learned since joining AFF. Taking advantage of credit card sign-up bonus points, this strategy makes it possible to earn hundreds of thousands of frequent flyer points every year for very little outlay.

Others are grateful for learning about Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer frequent flyer program. Award flights booked with KrisFlyer miles cost fewer points and lower taxes than most equivalent Qantas rewards. Plus, there is much better award availability in Business and First class. This includes awards for Singapore Airlines First Class Suites, which is one of the world’s best airline products!

And AFF is not just about flying! One member is thankful for the information they’ve learned on the AFF Wine Lovers forum. Here, members share their tips and tricks on purchasing quality wines for low prices.

Sadly, some of the very best tricks are now a distant memory. Many members reminisce the good old days of JASAs. JASA is an abbreviation for “Business class (J) Any Seat Award”. Several years ago, it was possible to book Qantas award flights at the low Classic Reward levels, and still earn points & status credits. This loophole has since been closed. But when one door closes, another one opens! There are still plenty of valuable tips and tricks to be shared, and you’ll find them right here at Australian Frequent Flyer!
