Qantas status is in easier reach for the next six days, thanks to a brand new double Qantas status credits promotion!
Until Tuesday 14 August, you’ll earn double Qantas status credits on any new Qantas flights booked for travel between 21 August 2018 and 8 August 2019. Status credits count towards earning Qantas status, so double status credits means you can upgrade to a higher tier for half the amount of flying!
This is the second double status credits promotion Qantas has held this year. The most recent promo was in February 2018. It’s unusual to have two offers in the same year.

What flights are included in this double status credit offer?
To earn double Qantas status credits, you’ll need to register on the Qantas website between 9 and 14 August 2018. Only flights booked during this period will earn double status credits.
The terms & conditions for the August double Qantas status credit offer are a little tighter than we’ve seen previously. Only Qantas marketed and operated flights (i.e. flights on a Qantas aircraft with a “QF” flight number) are eligible. Commonwealth government airfares won’t earn double status credits, nor will bookings made using gift vouchers redeemed outside the promotional period.
Double status credits earned during this promotion do not count towards the loyalty bonus, nor to Platinum One Bonus Reward earn requirements. Officially, double status credits will also not be earned if you change or cancel your initial booking.
Where should I travel to maximise my status credits?
If you’re considering a Qantas status run, here’s some good news. We’ve crunched the numbers and there are some very good options! In fact, you’ll pay less than $3 per status credit using one of the status runs we found.
Here are the some of the best Qantas status runs to book during the current double status credit promotion. Please note that fares and flight availability are subject to change.
1. Brisbane to Christchurch in Business Class
Qantas Business Class fares from Brisbane to Christchurch are currently $494 one-way or $927 return. For a return trip booked during this promotion you’ll earn 320 status credits at a cost of just $2.90 each! This price is available for departures in early September and from 20 October to 5 December 2018.
Beware of the early morning departure in both directions. Alternatively, take advantage of the 7.10am departure time for both flights and enjoy a weekend in Christchurch – you’ll be back in Brisbane in time for work when you fly home!
2. Melbourne to Beijing in Economy Class
You can earn 160 status credits by flying Economy from Melbourne to Beijing (via Sydney) for $599 round-trip. That’s a cost of $3.74 per status credit.
3. Melbourne to Beijing in Business Class
If you need more status credits, you can do the same trip in Business Class for $2,506 return. This earns 640 status credits – almost enough to earn Qantas Gold status – at a cost of $3.91 each.
4. Canberra to Hong Kong in Economy Class
You can fly from Canberra to Hong Kong (via Sydney or Brisbane) for $631 return in Economy. This earns 160 status credits at a cost of $3.94 each.
5. Sydney to Los Angeles or San Francisco in Economy Class
Qantas currently has a sale on Economy flights to the United States, with return trips from Sydney to LA or San Francisco for $979. This trip would earn you 180 status credits at a cost of $5.44/credit.
