There are countless ways to fly across the ditch to New Zealand these days. But most would agree that there is no better way to travel to the land of the long white cloud than in the luxury of first class on board an Emirates A380! This week Pushka got to do just that, and our member certainly lapped up the experience.
This afternoon we jet off to Sydney and then tomorrow morning, Sydney to Auckland. Why the split trip? Well, we must experience, well, I must experience, the Sydney F lounge…
…But what I am really looking forward to is the flight home – on F, Emirates the A380.
In New Zealand our member enjoyed the food, took in the scenery and soaked up the atmosphere in the beautiful Bay of Islands, before heading back to Auckland itself. The time in Auckland coincided with New Zealand’s semi-final game in the Cricket World Cup. There were quite some celebrations after the Kiwi side’s nail-biting victory!
A noisy night here last night but a great match.
But the real highlight of the trip was the extravagant return flight. After an extended stay in the popular Emirates lounge in Auckland our member settled into 3A on board Emirates First class. Emirates is the only airline to offer an international first class product, or fly the A380 across the Tasman, so it’s a unique flight. Expectations were certainly high, though our member was not left feeling disappointed! The full experience is captured in an array of photos bound to make you wish you were there.
Even though it’s a short flight, our member can’t let the novelty of having a shower at 35,000 feet pass by. Although the flight attendant doesn’t seem to encourage the use of the shower on such a short sector, the answer wasn’t “no”. And it seems the on-board shower did the job and is more than just a gimmick, leaving our member feeling refreshed too.
The shower. I can imagine on a long flight it would be bliss. I asked the crew who was assigned to me if i could experience it. She said she would check as its a short flight. She came back later and said it would be ok. I was the only person who did it. They certainly don’t encourage it.
You have five minutes so if you wash your hair you can stop while lathering. Temp is perfect. The stream is good considering where you are. I was surprised at how refreshed I felt afterwards.
What else did our member get up to on board the A380, and during their time in New Zealand? Read the full trip report HERE.
