Are you flying with Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Air New Zealand through Singapore’s Changi Airport? Thanks to the Changi Transit Programme, you can get free lounge access or a shopping voucher while in transit!

Eligible passengers connecting through Singapore on a round-trip booking can receive a SGD$20 gift voucher to use at almost any shop within Changi Airport. Alternatively, the voucher can be used to access the Ambassador Lounge in Terminals 2 or 3 of Singapore Airport for up to two hours.

If you’re travelling with Singapore Airlines to Asia or Europe – or anywhere else via Singapore – free access to the Ambassador Transit Lounges during your Singapore stopover is a great benefit. In addition to refreshments, these lounges offer shower facilities so you can freshen up between flights.

The Ambassador Lounge in Singapore doesn’t offer free alcoholic beverages, but Changi Transit Programme passengers can receive a 10% discount on alcohol purchases. If you wish to stay in the lounge for more than 2 hours, this is possible by paying an extra $12 per hour.

If you already have access to a lounge – such as through Priority Pass, airline status or your class of travel – you can spend the $20 voucher on duty-free shopping or a nice meal at an airport restaurant instead.

This promotion is a limited time offer. The current promotion runs until 31 September 2019. Vouchers must be collected by this date and expire 6 months after the date of issue. But the promotion has been continuously extended and brought back (sometimes with slight variations to the terms & conditions) since beginning in 2012.

Jetstar Asia has also participated in the Changi Transit Programme in the past, but is not currently.

Changi Transit Programme T&Cs

To be eligible for the Changi Transit Programme, you’ll need to have a return ticket which includes a transit in Singapore (of up to 24 hours) in both directions. The return flight must return to the country where you started your trip. Only flights on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Air New Zealand are eligible. Unfortunately, codeshare flights (such as Singapore Airlines-operated flights with a “VA” flight number) are ineligible.

To receive your voucher, you’ll need to proceed to an iShopChangi Collection Centre. These are located in the airside areas of Terminals 2 and 3 at Singapore Changi Airport. You’ll need to show your passport, boarding passes and e-tickets.

Full terms and conditions are available on the Singapore Airlines website.

You’ll receive one Changi Transit Programme voucher per round-trip, meaning you’ll only get free lounge access or shopping credit during your Singapore transit in one direction. But Singapore Airport does also offer many other pay-per-use lounges.
