What does it take to become a frequent flyer? This question has divided our members this week. While some say it’s all about the number of flights taken, others believe a frequent flyer is anyone that can make the most of the perks available to make any trip more enjoyable.

One member opines that a frequent flyer is anyone that flies at least once a month, while another suggests that flying at least once per year qualifies.

But many members deem the quality of the travel more important than the quantity. According to one member, a frequent flyer is someone who knows which airline lounges and aircraft seats are the best. They might use points to book a free hotel at the destination, or take an indirect flight to earn more frequent flyer points.

Frequent flyers are also more likely to seek and take advantage of opportunities to upgrade to Business or First class. This is done by maximising frequent flyer points and choosing flights where the odds of an upgrade are highest.

The good news is that you too can be a frequent flyer, even if you don’t fly that often! By learning the many tricks of the trade, travel in comfort and style does not have to be out of reach.
