Hilton Honors is quite a good loyalty program for people who regularly stay at Hilton hotels. However, we would not generally recommend transferring your Amex Membership Rewards points to this program.
Hilton points are not worth as much, at face value, as points in other loyalty programs. Despite this, Amex points still transfer to Hilton Honors at the same 2:1 ratio as is applied with other loyalty programs – where points are worth more.
Nonetheless, here is an overview of how to redeem Hilton Honors points.
Redeeming Hilton Honors points for hotel award nights
The following hotel brands participate in the Hilton Honors program:
You can redeem Hilton Honors points to pay in part or full for hotel nights, starting from 5,000 points per night. If you have Silver Honors status or higher, every fifth consecutive night is free when using points. (Keep in mind that some Amex credit cards even come with complimentary Hilton Honors status.) See the Hilton website for more information.
You can also redeem Hilton Honors points for things like gift cards and Amazon purchases, or transfer your points to an airline frequent flyer program.
Transferring Hilton Honors points to airline frequent flyer programs
You can transfer Hilton Honors points to a wide range of airlines, including Qantas Frequent Flyer, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, British Airways Executive Club, Air Canada Aeroplan and any of the major U.S. airline loyalty programs. See the Hilton website for a full list of airline transfer partners.
The conversion rate with most airlines is 10,000 Hilton Honors points = 1,500 airline miles.
