The Hilton Honors loyalty program will extend the status of all members until 31 March 2022, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact members’ ability to travel.
Hilton already extended the status of all members for one year in March 2020. Now, it’s announced that all elite members will keep their status benefits for a second year, even if they were due to be downgraded in March 2021 under the preivous policy.
But Hilton hasn’t stopped there. The hotel chain will rollover any nights earned in 2020 to 2021, giving members a head-start on renewing status beyond 2022. In addition, members will only be required to earn half the usual nights, stays or base points in 2021 to renew their status next year.
The hotel chain is also extending the validity of all points. No Hilton Honors points will expire between now and 31 December 2021. Hilton Honors points normally expire after 12 months of account inactivity.

AFF members are quite pleased with this offer…
Good Stuff! I attained Gold with a two night re-engagement opportunity in early 2019 … the gift that keep giving (esp. the guaranteed free breakfast, even if continental).
Excellent news. I got HH Diamond in early 2018 (after becoming VA Platinum in 2017), so looks like third year of Diamond for me!
Other hotel loyalty programs will likely follow with similar announcements before the end of 2020. Most programs have already extended members’ status by one year.
Last month, Air New Zealand became the first airline to extend frequent flyer status by a second year. As with the hotel industry, most airlines initially just extended status by 6-12 months. But 2020 is rapidly coming to an end, and travel definitely has not yet returned to normal!
