Think you’re a fan of the Boeing 747? You haven’t met Andrew Newnham yet…
Many Australians have used the coronavirus lockdown to work on projects around the house. Canberra-based Andrew Newnham (whose AFF handle is harvyk) is no exception. But instead of reseeding his lawn, installing a new kitchen or painting the house, Andrew decided to build a life-size Boeing 747 flight simulator in his garage!
After starting a similar project in his previous home a few years ago, a recent move and the coronavirus travel shutdown gave Andrew the perfect excuse to finish the project. But installing a full-scale replica of a Boeing 747-400 cockpit inside your house is no easy task.
It’s not quite finished yet, but Andrew’s flight simulator is already starting to take shape and is ready to be flown! In Episode 48 of the AFF on AIR podcast, Andrew tells Matt all about the project and what it takes to build a flight simulator in your own garage!
To give you an idea, here are some photos of the flight simulator in action…
Also in this episode, find out where all the grounded Qantas & Virgin planes are parked and why the Boeing 737 MAX could return to service soon.
