Velocity Frequent Flyer members can now earn points at 7-Eleven petrol stations and convenience stores after the ACCC approved the new partnership.
7-Eleven customers can earn 1 Velocity point per litre of regular fuel, increasing to 2 points per litre for premium fuels (Extra 95 and Mobil 98 Supreme+). There’s also 2 Velocity points per $1 on offer for most in-store purchases.
To celebrate the launch, Velocity members can also earn 711 bonus Velocity points on their first eligible 7-Eleven purchase until 28 June 2021. With over 700 7-Eleven stores available in all Australian states & territories except SA & NT, and 7-Eleven coffee available for $1, that’s a very easy way to earn 711 Velocity points!
To earn Velocity points at 7-Eleven, you would need to download the My 7-Eleven App, create a My 7-Eleven account (if you haven’t already) and link your Velocity account with your My 7-Eleven account. This can be done in the “Settings” section of the App.
Then, scan your My 7-Eleven card in-store to earn Velocity points. Eventually, physical Velocity card readers will also be available at the point-of-sale, but so far these have only been rolled out to stores in Western Australia.
See the 7-Eleven website for more details about linking your accounts.
Win a free joy flight from Sydney
By linking your Velocity and My 7-Eleven accounts by 2 June 2021, you’ll also go in the draw to win two seats on a special Virgin Australia flight, VA711, which will depart from Sydney on 29 June 2021 and follow a mystery flight path. There are 25 of these prizes up for grabs, and the prize includes return flights to Sydney (if required) from the winners’ nearest major airport.
The Velocity website has more information about this mystery flight.
7-Eleven fills a key gap for Velocity Frequent Flyer
Velocity Frequent Flyer previously had a long-standing partnership with fuel retailer BP, until BP switched its allegiance to Qantas Frequent Flyer in early 2020. Both Velocity and 7-Eleven say the new partnership is a good fit for both parties.
“Velocity are all about making it easier for their members to get their dream reward sooner, and our focus is all about making people’s lives easier, so Velocity Frequent Flyer represents a great fit with 7-Eleven,” 7-Eleven CEO and Managing Director Angus McKay said.
Australians now have lots of ways to earn loyalty points at the pump. In addition to the Velocity/7-Eleven and Qantas/BP partnerships, Australians can earn Flybuys points at Shell or Woolworths Everyday Rewards points at Caltex and Ampol outlets.
