Over the past two years of border closures and COVID-related travel disruptions, there haven’t been many good deals on flights to Europe. But Singaporean low-cost carrier Scoot is trying to change this, with flights from Australia to Europe available now from as little as $606 return.
The flights with Scoot are available from Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne, for travel to European cities including Athens and Berlin. (Scoot also flies to London Gatwick, but these flights have two stops via both Singapore and Bangkok and aren’t quite as good a deal.)
The cheapest deal is from Gold Coast to Athens, which is available on some dates over the coming months for as little as $605.40 round-trip!
You could also fly from Melbourne to Athens – with significantly shorter connection times in Singapore – from $640.28 return.
Other Scoot airfares currently available to Europe include:

- Melbourne-Berlin from $710.39 return
- Perth-Athens from $329 one-way (there are limited flights available back to Perth)
These fares are available on various travel dates, including for departures within the next few months. Check the Scoot website to see what’s available around your preferred travel dates.
Admittedly, these crazily low prices do not include checked luggage or meals on board. For that airfare, you literally just get a seat and up to 10kg of carry-on luggage.
If you want to add a 20kg checked bag, you could expect to pay around $129 extra each way. If you also want meals and drinks provided on board your flights, that’ll cost another $34 on top of that. In total, this turns a cheap ~$600 round-trip flight to Greece into a ~$930 flight. That’s still a great deal, but it’s starting to get closer to what you might pay on a full-service airline.
There are also some deals available on ScootPlus, which is Scoot’s version of business class. The actual ScootPlus product is closer to premium economy on other airlines, and you certainly won’t get a lie-flat bed, but it’s comfortable and the price is reasonable.

Some of the itineraries require a very long connection in Singapore, particularly to/from Sydney. But there are flight combinations available with shorter connection times. Note also that many Scoot flights to Singapore are designated VTL flights, and that you’ll need to get a pre-departure rapid antigen or PCR test to transit through Singapore under the current Singaporean government rules.
If you’re a member of the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program, you can earn KrisFlyer miles and Elite Miles (which count towards status) when travelling on Scoot.
