Virgin Australia is discounting Velocity Reward Seats on all of its flights, with 30% off the Velocity points required when booking by 10am on 13 April 2022.

This offer covers Virgin Australia Economy and Business Reward Seats booked using Velocity Frequent Flyer points, for travel between 1 May 2022 and 1 March 2023. You can book on the Virgin Australia website.

This offer covers both domestic and international flights operated by Virgin Australia, but not flights on partner airlines. Virgin Australia’s only current international destination is Fiji, but the airline is currently scheduling the resumption of flights to Denpasar (Bali) from 15 June 2022. Flights to Queenstown in New Zealand are due to resume in November 2022.

The 30% discount only applies to the Velocity points required. The taxes & carrier charges still need to be paid in full.

With this offer, you could book a Velocity Reward Seat on any route under 600 miles in length for just 5,400 Velocity points + taxes in Economy, one-way. Alternatively, you could book Business from 10,800 points + taxes. Routes under 600 miles include (but are not limited to):

  • Sydney-Melbourne
  • Canberra-Brisbane
  • Hobart-Melbourne
  • Sydney-Brisbane
  • Brisbane-Mackay
  • Adelaide-Melbourne
  • Melbourne-Newcastle
  • Sydney-Launceston
  • Sydney-Sunshine Coast

Flights to Fiji are also pretty good value with this offer. It would cost just 24,800 Velocity points return in Economy or 49,600 points return in Business Class to fly from Sydney or Brisbane to Nadi. Unfortunately, the taxes & carrier charges add another $266.70 per round-trip booking to Fiji. $20 of this amount is Velocity carrier charges, with the rest being government and airport charges which are included in the cost of commercial airfares as well.

They were advertising it at 7am on the web site but any searches showed no discounting of points. By 8:30am they had taken it down.

It's back now, but you can't book SQ online, at any points cost.

No more flatbeds with VA J. Since this is VA metal only I'll sit out of this one. Can't think of any decent Y routes for VA.

Thanks for that golden contribution.

Yeah I saw it on Facebook on both the Virgin and Velocity pages as sponsored ads, but I guess it was premature advertising as the promo didn't start until 10:01 a.m.

The original T&C's I read at 7am indicated it was from from 00:01 this morning ... that was changed with the revision.

I am thinking it relates to GDS's using UTC / GMT.
