A newly-refurbished SkyTeam lounge has opened in the international terminal of Sydney Airport.
Located in the same location as the old SkyTeam lounge, near gate 25, the space has been completely refurbished during the pandemic. It now offers floor-to-ceiling windows, reupholstered seating, buffet food, a live-cooking station and bar service.
Another great feature of the upgraded SkyTeam Sydney Lounge is phone booths, allowing visitors to make calls without disturbing other people in the lounge.
SkyTeam says that its alliance-branded lounge was also designed with sustainability in mind, including through the elimination of single-use plastics and water-saving taps in the bathrooms and showers.
“How better to welcome international travelers back to our Sydney Lounge than with a brand-new, high-quality experience that not only cares for them today but helps look after tomorrow’s travelers”, SkyTeam CEO and Managing Director Kristin Colvile said.
“It’s exciting to unveil a fresh look for SkyTeam Lounges that embodies our alliance’s commitment to greater sustainability on the ground and in the air.”
The SkyTeam lounge is available to Business Class and SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers travelling on any SkyTeam flight from Sydney. SkyTeam airlines flying from Sydney include Delta, Garuda Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Air, China Airlines and Xiamen Air. Eligible visitors can also bring a guest, as long as they are also departing within 24 hours on any SkyTeam flight.
You can check the opening hours on the SkyTeam website.
All three of the global airline alliances operate their own alliance-branded lounges at selected airports where many member airlines fly, but where none of the members operate their own lounges. These lounges are usually located at busy airports which are not a hub for any of the alliance members. For example, SkyTeam also operates its own lounges in Istanbul, Dubai, Vancouver and Santiago.
Even if you’re not eligible for complimentary access – or travelling on a SkyTeam airline – you can also purchase access to the SkyTeam Lounge in Sydney online or at the door. The price displayed on the Plaza Premium website (which operates this lounge) is $68.98 for 2 hours or $76.50 for up to 5 hours of access.
