Earning Qantas points is extremely easy. You can earn points at Woolworths, on Airbnb stays and you can now even earn Qantas points with Uber! In case you needed another reason to make the switch away from taxis, Qantas has joined forces with the ride-sharing service. You’ll now receive up to 3 Qantas points per dollar spent on Uber rides to the airport.
To earn Qantas points, you’ll need to book your Uber rides through the Qantas App. Gold, Platinum and Platinum One Qantas frequent flyers will receive 3 points per dollar. Silver members earn 2 points per dollar, while Bronze members earn 1 point per dollar. Interestingly, this is one of the first times Qantas has used a tiered earning structure with a non-airline partner.
The new feature is good news for existing Uber customers. New Uber users can also earn 2,000 Qantas points for their first Uber ride.
I see this as a good thing. 3 points/$ and at BNE, OOL and CNS, way to go bro!

There are a few catches. Qantas points are only earned on Uber trips to or from 15 Australian airports. These include airports in all capital cities except Darwin, and various other cities including Gold Coast, Newcastle and Cairns. Points are not awarded when using the App overseas, or on Uber trips that don’t start or finish at an airport.
Some members have expressed concern at the amount of personal data collected by Qantas when linking Qantas and Uber profiles. The airline will obtain not only your full Uber profile, but also your Uber trip history. This includes everything from the cities where you’ve used Uber, right down to the vehicle types used on all of your past rides. In order to benefit from the Uber-Qantas partnership, you must agree to allow Uber to pass on all of this data to Qantas.

Until now, it has also been possible to earn Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) points when riding with Uber. Unfortunately, this partnership will end next month on 17 December.
