New Double Status Credits Offer from Velocity (2023)

Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a brand new Double Status Credits offer for travel on all Virgin Australia flights during the next two months!

This includes domestic and international flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia. But the offer does not apply to flights operated by partner airlines.

To take advantage of this promotion, you’ll first need to log in and activate the offer within the Velocity App or on the Virgin Australia website. You can earn double Velocity status credits when booking between today (30 January 2023) and Friday, 10 February 2023.

This promotion covers flights taken between today and 31 March 2023. While this is an unusually short travel window for a double status credits offer, the promotion is welcome news for Velocity Frequent Flyer members who’ll be able to more easily climb to a higher status tier (or retain their current membership level) when travelling over the next couple of months.

DSC offer is available to activate in the Velocity App.
This offer is available to activate in the Velocity App.

You would need to earn 250, 500 or 1,000 Velocity status credits within any 12-month period to achieve Silver, Gold or Platinum status with Velocity Frequent Flyer. You would also need to take 2, 4 or 8 eligible Virgin Australia flight sectors, respectively, to attain a higher tier.

This offer can be combined with Velocity Frequent Flyer’s family pooling program. Each individual flyer will need to register for the offer, however, to receive double status credits for their flights.

From today until 12 February 2023, you can also earn 50% bonus Velocity points when booking Singapore Airlines flights and entering your Velocity Frequent Flyer number. You’ll need to activate this offer separately on the Velocity App or website, and this promo covers travel dates up to 31 July 2023.

There has been some speculation that Qantas Frequent Flyer may also run a bonus status credits promotion in February, but at this stage it’s just that – speculation.

Some ideas for status credit runs

If you’d like to book a trip that maximises the status credits earned during this promotion, have a look for Economy Choice fares (which earn 3x the amount of status credits compared to Economy Lite fares, for only a small fare increase) or Business Class fares. These can be particularly good value on some domestic routes.

For example, you could book:

  • Sydney-Ballina for $299 one-way in Business (earns 110 status credits with double status credits)
  • Sydney-Ballina for $79 one-way in Economy Choice (earns 30 status credits with double status credits)
  • Sydney-Sunshine Coast for $319 one-way in Business (earns 110 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Gold Coast for $349 one-way in Business (earns 160 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Launceston, Melbourne-Sydney, Melbourne-Canberra, Sydney-Gold Coast, Sydney-Brisbane or Adelaide-Melbourne for $349 one-way in Business (earns 110 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Sydney-Sunshine Coast for $446 one-way in Business (earns 220 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Canberra-Gold Coast for $471 one-way in Business (earns 220 status credits with double status credits)
  • Canberra-Melbourne-Launceston for $486 one-way in Business (earns 220 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Sydney-Ballina or Melbourne-Sydney-Gold Coast for $487 one-way in Business (earns 220 status credits with double status credits)
  • Melbourne-Launceston for $95 one-way in Economy Choice (earns 30 status credits with double status credits)
  • Darwin-Adelaide for $175 one-way in Economy Choice (earns 60 status credits with double status credits)

When booking a Virgin Australia flight, don’t forget that you can also use a promo code to get up to 10% off!

Double status offer in Velocity App

Activate and book by 10th Feb 2023

Travel by 31st March 2023

Very short travel period for some reason.

IPO could be the reason, drags in cash in a quiet time of year.

This is good for once. I was about to book a trip to NTL yesterday on the 31st March.

Yup, Jayne needs some cash.

Forward bookings must be soft.

Good for me, I can just scrape my way to gold again for peanuts (no incentive to get to VA2 platinum anymore, no point).

Funny they went for a fly by period instead of a book by one. This is clearly a short term booking stimulus.

Good to see DSCs are back though.

No DSC offer in the app for me sadly 😢

You can login to your velocity account online and it's pretty much generic offer , available to all.

Does it mean , it will work for any prior bookings as well and travel between the dates specified ? cheers

Is there any amount of cash I can pay you to have you not "scrape" your way back into VA status, and perhaps spend your time over on the Qantas forums instead?

I don't know why you come here so frequently just to trash an airline you clearly don't enjoy flying with.

And you've been doing it for a number of years now, it's almost like you've made a career of it. One has to wonder, are you on the Qantas books? It's the only logical explanation I can think of - because most would have moved on by now.

I think most have their review date set to 28 Feb, so if you take the offer up in March that'll go towards your next year

I'm planning to do ~400SC in March through this offer soon after my review date, which is halfway to WP renewal 🙂
