Our guide to the most effective ways to redeem Qantas Points will give you some more ideas.
This sign-up bonus is not available to existing cardholders of a Qantas Premier Everyday, Qantas Premier Platinum or Qantas Premier Titanium card. People who have closed or qualified for bonus Qantas Points on any credit cards within the Qantas Premier range within the last 12 months are also ineligible for the sign-up bonus.
Travel benefits
The Qantas Premier Everyday credit card isn’t as heavy on the travel benefits as the other cards in the range. For instance, this card doesn’t include any complimentary lounge passes or discounts on flights. But it does offer complimentary travel insurance, which is a lucrative inclusion for a card with a low annual fee.
Complimentary travel insurance
The Qantas Premier Everyday credit card includes domestic and international travel insurance underwritten by Chubb.
Eligibility for complimentary travel insurance:
- All eligible travellers’ airfares or cruise tickets must be paid for with your Qantas Premier Everyday credit card.
- Travel must start and end in Australia.
- The Qantas Premier Everyday credit card must be open (which means it is in-force and valid).
- You must be 79 years of age or younger when purchasing your tickets on the Qantas Premier Everyday credit card.
- You must meet the definition of a covered person: you are the primary cardholder; their spouse; and their legally dependent child(ren).
- You must be a Resident of Australia.
To determine if the complimentary travel insurance benefit suits your needs, we encourage you to read the PDS here.
Dedicated concierge service
Qantas Premier Everyday cardholders enjoy access to the Qantas Premier Concierge service. A phone call to the concierge service unlocks assistance with making restaurant reservations, securing tickets to concerts and sporting events, destination information, gift delivery and more.
Earning points
The Qantas Premier Everyday Mastercard earns 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 on Domestic Spend, capped at $3,000 per statement period. Once you’ve reached this monthly cap, you’ll continue to earn points at a rate of 0.4 per $1, uncapped.
Qantas Premier Everyday Mastercard holders receive one additional Qantas Point per $1 spent on Qantas products and services. So if you’re booking Qantas flights, purchasing Qantas Club membership or shopping via the Qantas Rewards Store or Qantas Wine, you’ll earn up to 1.75 Qantas Points per $1.
Cardholders also earn one Qantas Point per $1 equivalent on overseas spend, including with online merchants. However, overseas purchases attract a 3% international transaction fee.
The other two variants of this card have higher earn rates. You could earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 with the Qantas Premier Platinum, or 1.25 Qantas Points per $1 with the Qantas Premier Titanium, both with a cap on points earned per statement period. But do note that these cards come with higher annual fees – $399 and $1,200 respectively.
If you’re looking for an entry-level card with a low annual fee to earn Qantas Points from your everyday spending, then the Qantas Premier Everyday credit card may be suitable for you.
Using a Qantas Points-earning credit card, like the Qantas Premier Everyday Mastercard, can also ensure your Qantas Frequent Flyer account is kept active so your points don’t expire.
Earning points for ATO & government payments
While you can use your Qantas Premier Everyday card to make direct payments to the ATO or other Australian government bodies, you won’t earn any Qantas Points for this.
Instead, you could consider using a payment service like pay.com.au or Sniip to earn points when paying taxes or other bills.
Using Qantas Points
To get the best value out of your Qantas Points, they’re best redeemed for Classic Flight Rewards or flight upgrades. But you can also redeem Qantas Points for hotels, car hire, wine, petrol, gift cards or shopping via Qantas Marketplace.
Qantas Points aren’t just redeemable on Qantas metal, either. You can also redeem Qantas Points to fly with Oneworld carriers like American Airlines, Finnair, British Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific and more. So you can book experiences like Sri Lankan Airlines A320 Business Class, Iberia A340 Business Class or Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Business Class.
Redemptions can also be made with partner airlines like Emirates, LATAM, China Airlines, Fiji Airways and Jetstar.
Or, you could also put your Qantas Points towards your next holiday by redeeming them for accommodation via Qantas Hotels, Qantas Holidays, car rentals or Qantas Insurance policies.
We’ve covered all the ways you can redeem Qantas Points in the air and on the ground in our overview of Qantas Frequent Flyer redemptions.
