Travel benefits

The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card includes a range of benefits to make your travels smoother. Here’s what to expect…

Lounge passes

Cardholders receive two single-entry Qantas Club lounge invitations per year. These are redeemable at domestic Qantas Club lounges in Australia or select Qantas-operated international Business Lounges when travelling with Qantas or Jetstar. Treat yourself twice, or transfer a pass to a travel companion so you can both enjoy the lounge.

Discounted Qantas Club membership

The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card offers a discount on first-year Qantas Club membership. Instead of the usual $600 fee, cardholders will pay just $442 plus have the joining fee of $99 waived.

Qantas Club grants year-round access to an extensive domestic and international network of Qantas and partner lounges that you can access when flying with Qantas, Jetstar and selected partner airlines. This means that as long as you’ve got a Qantas Club membership, you don’t need to be flying in a premium cabin or hold status to enjoy a lounge before your flight.

Complimentary travel insurance

ANZ Frequent Flyer Black cardholders can enjoy complimentary overseas travel insurance underwritten by Allianz. To be eligible for the complimentary international travel insurance, you must:

  • Reside in Australia,
  • Spend at least $250 on prepaid travel costs on your ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card before leaving Australia,
  • Have a return overseas travel ticket before leaving Australia, and
  • Be under 81 years of age at the time you’re eligible for insurance and meet the conditions above.

Before using the complimentary travel insurance on your ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card, ensure you read the PDS here.

Personal concierge service

ANZ’s 24/7 concierge service is available to Frequent Flyer Black cardholders. No matter where you are in the world, you can make a restaurant reservation, book hotels, receive travel recommendations and more with a quick phone call.

Earning points

With an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card, you’ll earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points at a rate of 1 point per $1 spent on eligible transactions, excluding government payments.

The full points-earning rate is capped at $7,500 per month. After this, you’ll earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent for the remainder of your statement period, with no cap.

As an added benefit, cardholders can earn one additional Qantas Point per $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services in Australia. This includes Qantas flights booked directly through Qantas and Qantas Club membership fees.

Qantas Points do not expire as long as there is activity on your account at least once every 18 months. So if you don’t fly often, using a card that earns Qantas Points can prevent you from losing your hard-earned points.

Earning points for ATO & government payments

Qantas Points are not earned on direct payments to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) or other Australian government bodies.

However, you can use your ANZ Frequent Flyer Black card in conjunction with a payment service like pay.com.au to earn Qantas Points when paying taxes and other bills.

Using Qantas Points

Qantas Points are best redeemed for flights and upgrades. But they can also be redeemed for other elements of your holiday, like accommodation and car hire.

And given that Qantas is part of the Oneworld alliance, your points can be used to fly with a number of other member airlines like Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines or Finnair.

Qantas also partners with non-Oneworld airlines like Emirates, Fiji Airways, KLM and LATAM, opening up a wider network for you to redeem Qantas Points.

Aside from travel, Qantas Points can be put towards gift cards, movie tickets and merchandise from the Qantas Store, or a selection of beverages from Qantas Wine.
