10% Bonus on Transfers to Velocity in November & December 2024

Velocity 10% bonus points transfer offer from November 2024
Earn 10% bonus points with this offer from Velocity Frequent Flyer.

Almost every May and November for more than a decade, Velocity Frequent Flyer has given bonus points when you convert points from a partner program into Velocity points.

This offer is back for November 2024, but it’s not quite as good as past offers.

In the past, Velocity has traditionally given a minimum of 15% bonus points with these twice-yearly promotions. This month, the offer is 10% bonus Velocity points – and only on manual transfers from participating credit card rewards programs.

How to earn 10% bonus Velocity points with this offer

To earn 10% bonus Velocity points, you would need to complete a manual transfer from a participating credit card program at least once each in both November and December 2024.

You don’t need to register for this offer and there’s no specific minimum amount of points that you would need to transfer into Velocity during each of the two months. However, each credit card loyalty program has its own minimum transfer amounts.

You’ll then receive the 10% bonus points in your Velocity account by 31 January 2025, according to the offer terms & conditions on the Velocity website.

Velocity has included the requirement to transfer points across multiple months in several of its more recent promotions. I guess Velocity – perhaps at the request of the banks, or not – is trying to stop people just transferring out all their points in one go?

The 10% bonus is only for manual points transfers to Velocity

This offer is only available on manual points transfers. If you have a credit card that earns Velocity points directly, or your credit card points automatically transfer into Velocity each month, you won’t be eligible for the bonus points.

Last time Velocity ran a similar offer between May and June 2024, it offered 15% bonus points on manual transfers and a 20% bonus to people who opted into Velocity Auto Transfer. But numerous AFF members reported issues with the bonus points promised for switching on Velocity Auto Transfer not crediting by the promised date.

Participating credit card rewards programs

You can earn the 10% bonus when manually transferring points into Velocity during November and December 2024 from the following loyalty programs:

Our Australian Credit Card Points Transfer Matrix shows which airline, hotel and retail loyalty programs you can transfer points into, and at what rates, from each of the major Australian bank rewards programs.

Flybuys is not participating in this promotion. Virgin Money Rewards is also a notable omission from the list of participating programs.

Transfer now or wait?

If you want to transfer points to Velocity now – for example, to book a Virgin Australia or partner airline reward flight before the redemption rates go up – a 10% bonus is obviously better than no bonus.

But if you don’t have any immediate and specific need for Velocity points, you might be better sitting this offer out. Keep in mind that, by transferring your credit card points to Velocity, you lose the flexibility to transfer to a different program down the track instead. That flexibility is valuable.

If you can wait that long, we’re hopeful Velocity will bring back the better 15% (or higher) offers in May 2025.

Thanks. Citi auto sweep removed, should have done it earlier.

Won't do this from my Citi Premier, which can convert into KF (at 2.5:1), Velocity (at 2:1) or Flybuys. Rather keep the powder dry for a couple of US J awards on SQ...

I have points with Amplify that I want to transfer across to an airline before closing my card. The choices are Velocity (2:1 rate) or KrisFlyer (3:1 rate). In my case, it makes sense to transfer to Velocity at the 10% bonus because, even if I end up transferring those points onwards from VA to SQ, I'll still end up with more in my KrisFlyer account than if I just transfer directly from Amplify to KrisFlyer.
