Now that Queensland and South Australia have revealed when they will reopen their borders, it’s time to start thinking about travelling around Australia again. Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia have also started adding additional flights, but there are also some great deals on one-way car hires, which can cost as little as $1 per day!
In Episode 38 of the AFF on Air podcast, James Green from Award Flight Assist also explains how Qantas Points Club members can maximise the ability to earn status credits for Qantas Classic Flight Rewards with some epic status runs.
At the end of this episode, the roles reverse and James interviews the podcast’s host Matt Graham. Find out which are Matt’s favourite countries, airlines and frequent flyer programs, and what tips Matt has for newbies to the frequent flyer points game.

I heard you mention there are credit cards which can convert points for different airlines or alliances. I currently use a Westpac black qantas MasterCard and as I am far from happy with Qantas I tried to use a different Westpac card however the conversion factor was drastically reduced so I have at this stage continued with the Qantas card. Can you tell me which card offers the best solution please?
It really depends which frequent flyer program/s you wish to be able to transfer your points to. In general, most Amex cards provide good value (e.g have a look at the Amex Explorer card) and the St George/Bank SA Amplify Signature card is pretty good as well (earning the equivalent of 0.75 KrisFlyer miles or Velocity points (although Velocity transfers are currently paused) per $1 spent, excluding the Birthday Bonus). As you say, the Westpac Altitude Black card is relatively poor value in comparison.
