Black Friday, traditionally marking the day after Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas shopping season, is a concept originating in the United States. But Black Friday sales – as well as the “Cyber Monday” sales that inevitably follow – have spread around the world.

In Australia, we’ve been bombarded with sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday over the weekend. Luckily, many airlines have gotten in on the action and there have been some very good deals this year!

Our two low-cost airlines, Jetstar and Tigerair, had their own Black Friday sales earlier in the week. Tigerair offered return flights for $1 while Jetstar had some very cheap Friday Fare Frenzy deals. Qantas also had some great Black Friday deals, although most of the sales were on airfares originating overseas.

Many more deals are still available until at least Cyber Monday (26 November). Here is a selection of some of the best “Black Friday” deals that are still available and of possible interest to Australian frequent flyers:

Up to 40% off Priority Pass Membership

Priority Pass is offering 25-40% off lounge membership for Black Friday. You’ll get 40% off the base level “Standard” membership, which does not include any lounge visits. Or, for Standard Plus or Prestige membership, you can get 25% off. These deals are available on the Priority Pass website.

Priority Pass Black Friday offer

This is the best deal we’ve seen from Priority Pass for a long time, and somewhat makes up for the recent price increases. This offer expires at midnight on Sunday 25 November, US time (i.e. mid-afternoon on Monday 26th November in Australia).

If you’re considering purchasing a Priority Pass membership, keep in mind that some credit cards offer complimentary Priority Pass access. This could be a more cost-effective solution.

Up to 140% Bonus on Buying Avianca LifeMiles

Avianca has released yet another deal on buying LifeMiles for Black Friday. The current Avianca LifeMiles promotion is even better than the one from two weeks ago, as the 140% bonus miles apply to purchases of any amount – not just purchases above 100,000 miles. This offer expires at midnight on 26 November (El Salvador time).

20% Extra Bonus on Buying AAdvantage Miles

American Airlines is also getting in on it. American is offering an additional 20% bonus AAdvantage miles on top of the existing bonuses for buying miles. This deal expires on 26 November (US time).

45% off Malaysia Airlines Flights from Thailand

There are some great deals on Malaysia Airlines flights, including for travel in Business Class, on departures from Bangkok and Phuket. This sale ends on 26 November. As well as being a good deal, this presents some great Qantas status run opportunities!

Virgin Australia Sale to the United States

Virgin also currently has sale fares available to destinations acoss the United States in Economy, Premium Economy and Business. This particular sale ends on 9 December 2018.

Many overseas airlines are also running Black Friday sales. Air New Zealand has various sale fares from Australia to New Zealand or the Americas. Air Asia is also offering some good deals, but only if you book with the Air Asia app.
