Virgin Australia is giving up to 6,000 bonus Velocity points and 60 extra status credits to frequent flyers who book an international flight out of Australia with one of its partner airlines.

To take advantage of this offer, you would need to activate it on the Velocity Frequent Flyer website or within the Velocity App by 12 December 2021. Then, book an eligible international flight out of Australia and travel between 1 December 2021 and 30 June 2022 to earn bonus Velocity points & status credits.

The amount of bonus points and status credits you’ll earn depends on the class of travel:

  • Fly Economy to earn 2,000 bonus points and 20 more status credits
  • Fly Premium Economy to earn 4,000 bonus points and 40 more status credits
  • Fly Business or First Class to earn 6,000 bonus points and 60 more status credits

This offer is available when you fly with any of the following Virgin Australia partner airlines on an international flight out of Australia:

These airlines currently have (or will soon have) international flights available from Australia on the following routes:

Virgin Australia partner airline routes November 2021
Routes operated by Virgin Australia’s international partner airlines to/from Australia.

Connecting flights from Australia to other international destinations via Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Honolulu, Los Angeles or Vancouver also count.

Virgin’s other partner airlines – South African Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Hainan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and Capital Airlines – are not currently flying to Australia.

Of course, you’ll also earn the normal amount of Velocity points and status credits (in addition to any bonus) when flying with Virgin Australia’s partner airlines. You can check the earn rate for each partner airline on the Velocity website.

For example, if you booked a return Singapore Airlines Economy Lite fare from Sydney to Singapore (currently available from $493 return on the Singapore Airlines website), which books into “V” class, you would earn a base rate of 3,912 Velocity points and 60 status credits. With this offer, you would also earn an additional 2,000 Velocity points and 20 more status credits.

To take advantage of this offer, you would need to enter your Velocity Frequent Flyer number at the time of booking your flight with the Virgin Australia partner airline. This offer can only be used once per Velocity member and you’ll find the full terms & conditions on the Velocity website.

From next month, Virgin Australia also plans to resume international flights to Fiji, followed in 2022 by Denpasar and Queenstown. Until 31 March 2022, Virgin is also offering 45-100% bonus status credits (but not bonus points) on its own domestic and international flights.
