Earning and redeeming Woolworths Rewards points is one way to save money on groceries from Woolworths. But there’s an even easier way to save 5% on everything you buy from Woolworths – and still earn Woolworths Rewards points!
The trick is to purchase Woolworths eGift cards at a 5% discount. There are several ways to purchase these discounted gift cards, including via the Entertainment Book, some car clubs (e.g. RACV) and the AGL Rewards program. But the easiest way is to purchase them via the Cashrewards website. Cashrewards is free to join and you can purchase as many discounted Woolworths gift cards as you like!
How to save 5% at Woolworths via Cashrewards
After joining Cashrewards, simply click on the link to purchase Woolworths Gift Cards at a 5% discount.
After being transferred to the Woolworths website, you’ll have the option to buy a Classic Gift Card or an eGift card. We recommend buying eGift cards as these have no delivery fees. You can purchase vouchers in any denomination between $5 and $500. With the 5% discount, for example, you would only pay $95 for a $100 voucher.
Woolworths eGift cards can also be redeemed at Big W and Dan Murphys, as well as for gift vouchers to use at other retailers. But you can’t redeem these for physical Woolworths gift cards.
It usually takes several hours before you’ll receive the eGift card by email. There will be a code on the voucher, which you can enter at the Woolworths checkout to redeem. You don’t have to redeem the full amount in one transaction, and you can also redeem multiple vouchers at once. As of 31 March 2018, Woolworths gift vouchers never expire.
You’ll still earn Woolworths Rewards points for your shopping. If you have a point-earning credit card, you’ll earn credit card points for the initial voucher purchase. And if your credit card awards bonus points for supermarket spend (such as the Amex Platinum Edge or David Jones Amex cards) you’ll also earn the bonus points for eGift card purchases.
Cashback at hundreds of online retailers with Cashrewards
Cashrewards also offers cashback for purchases made at hundreds of online retailers. Partners include Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, eBay, Amazon, Myer and various hotel booking websites. The cashback amount varies by retailer and it usually takes 4-12 weeks after completing the purchase before the cashback is approved. Once you’ve earned at least $10.01 worth of cashback rewards, you can transfer the money to your bank account or PayPal account.
