www.bahn.de may prove to be an excellent alternative for bookings. Germany's rail network is very good but expect many already busy trains to be full.

Hope this is cleared up by June when I visit on a LCC.

It has been ongoing for months... the unions here are a bit like Australia 15-20years back... some of the LCC are diverting flights to Leipzig and bussing people to Berlin

I can live with that so long as I enjoy my brief 2 day visit to Berlin. Never been!

There are further strikes on Monday 13 March, with LH not operating any flights out of FRA by the looks of things, so it is not just affecting the two Berlin airports:

(if the paywall defeats you, the headline is 'Berlin airport workers to strike again')

The strike has apparently been extended until 'early' on Wednesday 15 March.

DB's extensive rail network would be super busy - not that it is often quiet as many prefer rail to internal flights.

This sort of strike action may be forgotten over time but at least in the short term, it does nothing to promote passenger loyalty to air travel if feasible alternatives exist.

2 days is never enough :-)

Going to be just slightly less now as I've re-routed myself to HEL for the final evening I was going to spend in Berlin, before flying down to Paris the next morning. It's going to be 7 days, 5 flights and 4 cities – not including origin. BCN-AMS-SXF/TXL-HEL-CDG/ORY-BCN. If you're free to meet for an AFF drink, I'll try arrange something closer to the date (22-24 June).

Apologies for taking the thread off topic, but really hoping this doesn't affect my schedules in the future :p
