Certainly a topic that warrants open and full discussion - I will be in TPR Tue morn I'll get some pics and post a report.

To those who have flown SQ F/Suites out of SIN - did you find SQ's TPR rather disappointing relative to your expectations or relative to the offerings of other top airlines ?

While onboard SQ F is probably better than many other F's (never tried it but that seems to be the general consensus) it seems that whilst that its lounge is never included on the list of best lounges in the world, which include QF F lounge @ SYD, LH FCT @ FRA, AF F lounge @ CDG, TG F lounge @ BKK and now it looks like CX The Pier @ HKG may join that list. I rarely see SQ TPR mentioned amongst these.

Shouldn't one of the worlds best F products also have one of the worlds best F lounges ?

I am looking forward to hearing some comments and discussion on the above.

Cheers.

Certainly a topic that warrants open and full discussion - Nizar care to repost here? Your post in the SQ V EK F thread was the perfect opener.

Great idea - perhaps you can begin by kindly sharing your thoughts ?

.

Yes and moreso as it is SIN their home base.

It offers peace and serenity and the a le carte restaraunt is nice. But no sleeper rooms, or couches ..and no facilities like spa, massage etc.

Never been fortunate to make it into TPR, but obviously it misses the things listed above.

However potentially its also because its not seen as a significant step-up from the SilverKris Lounge.
which IMHO is an amazing Business class lounge.

Well designed, lots of seating and an awesome buffet.

Don't see it as being particularly amazing as it just has the standard amenities (Yes I have been there many times).

These days you have Business Lounges like Al-Mourjan which the standard amenities PLUS quiet rooms for sleeping as well as ala carte dining in addition to buffet.

If you wanna talk Star Alliance then for me the TK Business lounge at IST is far superior to SQ's offering. It even has sleeper rooms. And yes TK don't have an F lounge at IST but that's because it doesn't offer F cabins anymore on any of its aircraft.

Don't get me wrong the SQ SilverKris lounge at SIN is solid, but for me, far from outstanding. And IMO not enough of an excuse for having a subpar F lounge.

TPR is spacious. It's well appointed. It's usually empty. Service is polite enough. But that's about it.

I find the restaurant average, the buffet particularly tired... although I suspect that's because there are so few passengers that the food sits there for too long.

It lacks architectural splendour (like QFs), interior design (LH), food (LH), service (LH et al). And there's no 'wow' factor (massages, lively bar, interactive staff).

But is does the job for peace and quiet.

Why? Who knows!?

I would not include TG F to be compared with SQ TPR. It is quite a few notches below what's on offer by SQ: very crowded, tired furniture, hit & miss foods. The massage was overrated IMO.

The TPR atmosphere is different from QF F (SYD or MEL): restrained, subdued rather than bathed in sunlight with expansive views. The seating itself is new "old world" rather than new "new world". Food-wise, TPR would not match with QF F offerings IMHO - very pedestrian, I'd have to say.

One thing TPR has in bundles over QF F is the quietness - well, most of the times anyway [when the LV toting madams did not chat on their mobiles] reflecting its higher level of exclusivity [you need to have a First / Suite BP to get in and no guest is allowed - status counts for zip].

The Pier's best feature is the Cabana - an outstanding win for me [I had routed through HKG instead of SIN just to enjoy the Cabana !].

Its seating is rather poor and it can also be crowded with OWEs. Food is better than TPR but again is not a match for what's on offer by QF F.

So, in my limited view, here's the ranking:

FOODS:

#1: QF F
#2: CX Pier
#3: TPR

ATMOSPHERE:

Peace & Privacy: TPR

Light & Views: QF F (Syd > Mel)

Exclusive Refreshing Cabana: The Pier

*********

Where would I like to linger ?

#1: The Pier
#2: QF F
........ and then:
#3: TPR

Agree Isochronous. The buffet is very average. I always order off the menu.

I have been to TPR, The Pier and QF F Lounge. I think the food is best at the QF F Lounge also. I haven't tried a lot at The Pier so not sure where TPR is better or worse.

Totally agree with your comments.

There's no perfect F lounge however my dream First Class lounge would be something like this:-

It has to be similar to a Lufthansa First Class Terminal - a dedicated terminal, full restaurant, cigar lounge, endless drinks choices, overlooking the runway, personal assistant from arrival to boarding, limousine transfers directly to the plane via tarmac, rent a Porsche for a few hours for a small fee.

The level of service must equal or be better than Singapore Airlines' Singapore Girl service.

There is a spa/relaxing zone that can access a full hour massage similar to Thai Airways Royal Spa at Bangkok. I would also add, maybe after the first hour an option to extend your treatment for a fee and/or other paid treatments such as facials, body scrubs, wraps, treatment etc etc.

Also I would add, an enclosed game area for pool tables, futsal table, air hockey, maybe table tennis for one to keep entertained - IIRC they have a small play area for this at the Royal Jordanian AMM lounge.

And a mini cinema theatre - like they do at Turkish Airlines' IST lounge.

Lack of spa aside, I think the LH FCLs are the perfect lounges. All of them are pretty amazing.

The best feature I've ever seen in a lounge? The sound-proofed room for children at the LGW BA First lounge. No idea if it's still there... but it was a fully enclosed box, floor to ceiling windows to allow parents to supervise (without actually being in there if they didn't want to!), and the kids were running around making as much noise as they wanted. Perfect to tire them out before the flight.

And Singapore Airlines do not offer complimentary transfers to/from airport. I think that should be a must for long haul F.
