As they'd say in TexAAs headquarters, Yeeeeeeeeeehaw !!

AA have announced that they are dropping their India (Delhi?) call centre and will be bringing the call centre back to Oz effective from late May 2008.
The new centre will be based in BNE and handle all Asia-Pacific countries AA have a presence in, codeshare or metal.

Humungous thumbs up from me.

Perhaps this will add some momentum to getting an Australian credit card with points transfer to AA.

Well that is great news - it will be interesting to see if they have any EXP focussed AAgents or ATW aagents...

All in all good news though :D

They probably got sick of me calling the direct line in Sydney ;)

Just so long as they train the people well and they have a better understanding of the rules than a lot of the QF staff.

The press release I saw was in Travel Daily yesterday, with reference to the "release" on Tuesday in Brisbane.

In Wednesday's edition and says, that it will be operated by a company called Mindpearl and handle all AAreservation functions for Australia, NZ, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

sounds great. anything has gotta be better than running a call centre from Delhi

Hmm... so I'd be speaking to an outsourced BNE call centre when I call AA Tokyo instead of directly with those nice, efficient ladies at the actual AA office. Let's hope issuing future DONE4s ex-NRT go just as smoothly...:-| Can't have it all I guess.

QF009,

OT but worth it. I like this sign off and saw a few people like this in the BNE QP on Saturday afternoon and evening :!:

I wasn't one of them though

I had some dealing with the mindpearl the AA call centre last week. I made three calls:
  1. Called approx 12:10pm - was on hold for 30 minutes (using hands free) before I had to move on.
  2. Called early the next day; on hold for 12 minutes before being answered by a voice that could be described as Asian with an Oz twang.
  3. Called again alter in the day and was on hold for 17 minutes before being answered.
Communicating in 'Strine' was fine; I still needed to do some NATO Phonetics for PNR numbers but otherwise fine. (FWIW, I often need do this, even with Qantas Agents).

The only real issue is the hold times I experienced.

Yes i noticed that hold times have lengthened considerably ever since the switch to BNE occurred unless calling early in the morning.

Currently on hold with AA Oz (14 mins so far) and have to say that they have the weirdest hold music I have ever heard  songs in a range of languages that seem to include some latin american , eastern europe and others....

I called AA oz first this morning, 9:01am, and had to wait 9 minutes before I spoke to an AAgent.

The situation is, AAoz charged my CC Thurs 19th June, it hit my CC transactions on Mon 23 June, I rang up Tues 24 to cancel an itn which AA said it's all fine and they would give me a full refund.

The refund has not yet returned to my CC and the AAgent says the refund is in process, its gone from AAmerica, to AAsyd to now AAhkg finance dept..... ra ra ra ra ra...... and said it may take up to another two weeks!

They said it will be returned...... I'm hoping they do it faster!

They have the systems in plce to charge you immediately, but don't have the systems in place to process a refund to the same credit card . Of course this delayed refund process only benefits one side of the equation .

Maybe https://www.refunds.aa.com/ would have been a better option. I last used it a year ago, (fare paid in $A) and the money was back in my account fairly quickly.

You could probably still use it to find out where your refund status is at.
