I want to use my AMEX points (180K) towards an international flight.

QFF with 80k points and Velocity and Asia Miles with zero.

Any recommendations?

Where do you want to go and what class? Economy, Premium Economy, Business or First?

I would be leaning towards QFF if it was me ....

Again depends on your destination and travel class ....

And to some extent depends on your origin as well. I'll tell anyone who will listen that Perth-Tahiti (or anywhere in the South Pacific) for 35k in business is hard to beat.

I would like confirmation on this too. This is a great deal!

If your Amex points can be transferred to Qantas then 192,000 QFF points (96,000 x 2) will get you to Los Angeles and back.

Yes it is KF, personally I think KF offers better value, except perhaps to US because of *A routing. Oh and then there is the small factor that with KF you have a better chnace of actually finding an available seat.

If you had to go to LAX from SYD, would you go via SQ or QF? Obviously QF is direct.

That's if you can find C availability on NZ ;) But I am happy with Y redemptions using 25K points as AUS-PPT usually hovers above $1500 return mark.

True, I have only done PPT once and that was booked a long time in advance. We are going to New Zealand next week and I had no trouble with availability for PER-AKL for us or two other couples. I think Cook Islands would be by next destination of choice.

I do not believe it is possible to get an SQ Saver award for these flights and it would have to be *Alliance award.

Just checked and can be done online :)
170000 miles return after 15% online discount...

Ahhh. I must have tried BNE-LAX as that is what the OP wanted.

Is 170,000 miles in business?
