I haven't seen it mentioned on AFF, so for anyone who hasn't seen it on OzBargain or otherwise heard about it.....

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/272208

Basically, add a supplementary card by phone (1300 132 639) and score 5000 bonus points after about six weeks.

Thanks to NikeVictorious on OzBargain for the heads up.

EDIT: BTW, it only runs until the end of this month.

Just off the phone trying to book my free flight and was offered this deal. Apparently no proof needed - just a name and a DOB. Didn't take it up but might call back when I remember the dog's birthday. I've always wanted a card in the name of "Santos L Halper" (one for The Simpsons fans :)).

I have one in the name of Baby Gammy. No dob or proof of identity requested.

They do run a bunch of checks in the background to confirm if that person exist, it hit a snag when I quoted the wrong DOB for my outlaws.

Worked on my Velocity Platinum card yesterday - painless using the AMEX phone service. Took less than ten minutes all up so a very easy 5k points!!!

I know this supposedly runs out at the end of the month, but would be surprised if it didn't come up again - I was offered a 5k bonus back in July for adding a sup card to my Platinum Charge, so it seems to come up from time to time.

Yeah indeed, I think I was offered the same 5k for new supplementary cards on my Edge and Charge around March this year - so it must be a relatively common offer.

When I called about it, and if I understood him correctly, it's now extended to 11 November.

I phoned today to add multiple cardholders to my Platinum Edge. Was advised that the 5000 points only applies to the first supplementary card and no points are added for any subsequent supplementary cards. I asked the agent to check with his supervisor and this was confirmed.

Yes the offer was always only for one supp per Amex. So if you have two different Amexe's you can get 2 x5000.

My wife rang up last week and added our son to her Amex Explorer

Card arrived today, as did my new Explorer card.

Both had the same packaging as is the page the card is attached to, even mentioning a credit limit on what is supposed to be a supplementary card.

Also unable to add the sons to my wife's account.

Is this how others supplementary cards have arrived?

This appears to be correct. I called on 2nd November to add a supplementary to my Reserve and was told I would receive the 5k bonus points.

I was advised it's 5k for the first supp added during this promo, and 3k for each subsequent supp added.

Yes is odd. Packaging implies it is a new account.

Quite different than in the past. I suspect it is a stuffup.

In the past one would just activate and no separate online account was required. My recent three I have had to set up 3 new online accounts, and really for no good reason.

I would check to ensure there is no separate annual fee as well (by mistake...)
