Hi folks,

I have a question about transferring MR points across countries. I currently hold an AU Plat charge card and a NZ Platinum Edge credit card. I want to cancel the NZ card and transfer the MR points associated with that card to my Australian card, as I'll be residing in Australia for the foreseeable future. However, when I called the NZ plat edge number to cancel and have the MR points transferred over, I was told by the person on the phone that as these are two different programmes with different transfer rates to partners, I would be unable to transfer points over. This is contrary to what I have read online, where people have reported success in transferring MR points across countries. Before I do the HUCA routine, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience like this themselves, or any other insights?

Cheers

Wouldn't have thought it would be possible personally.

Where have you read about transfers? Maybe ask there.

I'd be surprised if they let you do this as yes it's true the NZ cards transfer to say airline partners generally at 1:0.5:( while Oz gets a 1:1 with the same partners.

But if you find a way I'm all ears!

It is possible to transfer points across different card in difference country, with the points converted at the current exchange rate. This can only be done once every 365 days apart to avoid exchange rate abuse.

Are there any anecdotal experiences of this post-2013? The point hacks article I googled about this dates from that year, and I haven't seen any other accounts about it since.

I also got a "no" just webchatting with someone about my US AmEx account. Has anyone had success with this recently?

it should work if you do a global card transfer thats on the membership rewards to another MR program card overseas and close that card as stated on their website. there is a dedicated global transfer team that im currently talking too that are making me close my AUst cards as they reckon i have too many even though their website says you don't have to close them. anyone know if NZ have a member get member program? i need a referral for the air points no annual fee card please pm me.
