I know this special is ending 30 Jun but I would really like Virgin to consider it staying. I do think its an enhancement that I was pleased to see offered and would like to see it stay as a perm feature, it's the one big difference between the QFF and Velocity programs, and your temp enhancement to at least let us earn status credits has been much appreciated, it encouraged me to keep flying Virgin not only because I prefer them but because I managed to retain my status for another year. Any chance of it staying VFF?

Its somewhat unsustainable as it will effectively allow pople to get/maintain status without spending much money.

That said, perhaps a 1/2 status credits arrangement for rewards flights (but not upgrade flights) (and full status credits for any seat as it is currently) could be workable and still a good point of differentiation.

I think you have the proverbial two chances of this happening. I assume this was done to help them write off their outstanding point liability at low cost so they weren't laden with debt at the same time as expending on expansion, but it probably isn't sustainable (without some other way to pay for it - either enhancements to the program or higher fares). It *could* feasibly become a regular offer (every 18mths or so) though.

Thanks for reminding me to book another 160SC/3x000 point trip this weekend :)

Sorry but I don't have that info to hand.
Best take advantage of the next couple of weeks!

Rather than having SC's on reward flights / upgrades for everyone, maybe have it as a benefit for Gold (1/2 SC) and Platnum's (1 SC).

Would be a great point of differentiation between SG and WP on VA. It seems like QF, there's minimal differences now really.

I dont think they will continue the SCs for reward seats promo but I think they will do another major promo for the second six months of this year (maybe double SCs for ASAs?)

It would be a master-stroke for JB to run a promo with, say, half price ASAs in counteract the QF changes!

it's almost the end of July and I havent see any promos related to the status credit :( doest anyone know anything coming?

What is the downside to continuing this?

Status credits cost them nothing.
Status is worthless unless you fly.

You need points to redeem for a flight and those points need to come from somewhere.

Someone who generates cc points can be MORE valuable than someone who only generates BIS points.

IMO its a win win for velocity to retain this ongoing.

Status Credits absolutely have a cost associated with them - every time you use a benefit, it costs $$ - especially if it's a partner benefit you're using.

I would personally prefer to see Status Credits only being associated with revenue fares .. thems that pay for flights get the goodies. :p
