I am thinking of using Hertz for an extended (23 day) rental ex AMS Schiphol. Gold Plus Rewards indicates an upgrade to next class applies to booking over 5 days (if available). All the operators in AMS Schiphol would each push out dozens of vehicles each day so I don't think availability will be an issue.

Has anyone had any recent Hertz Europe experiences?

I was going to direct points to SQ Krisflyer. Thoughts?

In the absence of any responses I plunged into the unkown and booked my lowly Volvo S60 manual in AMS. I was a little sceptical about how being Gold Plus Rewards member would translate into reality.

My hire cost over 23 days is 765 euro or 33 euro a day (AUD$53).

All of the Hertz staff at AMS Schiphol were keen, friendly and striving to please.
I received a brand new vehicle with just 13km on the clock. Instead of the Volvo I was provided this sleek grey Mercedes Benz C180 station wagon. Don't be fooled into thinking it is only a C180 as this car really goes, though I am being gentle with the engine. ;)

I have to book a car (people mover) for 19 days out of Rome, the price is hideous. Have joined Avis and booked with them for ~€400 less.

That station wagon looks like it might be fit for purpose - family trip with lots of luggage. I'll take another look at Hertz.

Have around 4000 hertz points which appear to be totally useless!
