Hi

I acknowledge there are a few similar threads, so if need be this can be merged.

Does any one have any codes that I can use to get more than 100km per day from Hertz Ayers Rock? I've tried ringing Hertz directly but they say there is no unlimited options.

I'd be happy with 250km per day or some way to drop the $.25 per extra km.

Thanks

Hertz NT is not a corporate location, so you were speaking to the owners who set the rules.

This thread does have some good info if somewhat dated, I suggest looking elsewhere:

http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/car-hire-and-taxis/car-rental-darwin-any-tips-8825.html

A quick look at QF Car Hire bookings shows 100km is common amongst all companies listed there, standbycars.com.au have a Britz Getz with unlimited k's

ntstandby.com.au have a Corolla with unlimited km for a min. of 3 days at $88/day plus taxes/charges through Thrifty at Ayers Rock. They also provide all cars through Europcar at Darwin and Alice with unlimited kms for a min. of 2 days.

I hired a Commodore at Alice Springs through Hertz via Expedia about a year ago, with unlimited km for 3 days at a total cost of about $400 incl. excess reduction. Not sure Expedia still have Hertz cars with unlimited km though.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to stick with Hertz and use some free day vouchers that I've been given. I'm looking at a bit of money with the excess kms but the vouchers allow up to P and E class, so its a nicer vehicle.

Britz or ntstandby will most probably be my place of choice for next time.

At 25c-30c /km extra the mileage surcharges do add up fast when travelling in NT.

It sounds like you've tried both Hertz (corporate booking line), and Hertz NT (The franchise).

Looking on websites can be tricky because not all websites correctly show KM limits, and surprises can occur as a result. Sometimes special CDPs give higher mileage limits, but I'm not aware of any that work in AYQ for that - and the public ones I tried didn't help.

Unfortunately most of the "good" sites that gave unlimited or higher mileage options seem to have gone and are replaced by generic sites that just show what everywhere else is showing.

Hi! Just to clarify: Hertz in the NT is corporate nowadays, the franchise operation was taken over by Hertz about 2 years back in time. There may be some local agents operating under the corporate structure in smaller places such as Katherine, but all major locations (such as DRW, ASP and AYQ) are corporate operations.

I used Hertz last year but booked through-www.driveaway.com.au
Ended up with a cheaper rate than hertz direct plus got unlimited kms.Doesnt help with the certificates though.

That's good. Saves all the hassle of dealing with an independent licensee - Wish they'd do the same with Hertz Tasmania!

But I suspect this is part of the reason why 250km/day type rates aren't easy to find these days...

I'd advise checking whether Hertz AYQ have group P (Holden Calais) or group E (Ford Territory?) .. When I hired a Commodore (group D) from Hertz ASP 15 months ago, they didn't have group P and ASP is much larger than AYQ!

It has changed, thanks for the update, I was wondering why the rates were good last month and had not noticed the change!
