Me too! This would have been brilliant. I can't even replicate it directly on Orbitz, and running a search through Google Flights still shows ~$700 as being the cheapest rate, despite the $266 rate.

So tempted to just book it anyway.

Does anyone know where to find the fare class?

Experiencing the same as you, tried direct on Orbitz and couldn't get it to price as such. I would have though it would book into the lowest fare class...

Could not book via Google flights, but was able to use steppo's ITA user script to book in August for MEL-BNE-LAX-SYD-MEL at USD275 (better selection as well).

I have never traveled VA Economy transpacific - I may be learning soon enough.

Cheers, but doing the sums it's not worth it for me. Can you share how you're getting it to price such as that? Tried using GoogleFlights but can't get figures near that all.
