How I sometimes wish I lived on the other side of the world......

Emirates have just released their "partner" (two people must travel together) ticket prices departing Athens until 31 August to the following (Travel to Bangkok, Seoul, Sydney and Auckland in the A380 private suites):

Destination First Class:
Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Hyderabad €1.429,-
Bangkok, Hongkong €1.649,-
Peking, Shanghai, Guangzhou €1.549,-
Kuala Lumpur, Singapore €1.649,-
Seoul €1.849,-
Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne €2.699,- (approx A$3,860)
Auckland, Christchurch €2.859,-

In Australia we just seem to miss out time and time again !!!!!

Kind regards, Traveller F

You can work that into a return flight strategy, e.g. fly cheap to ATH first, then book your return F flight with the to-Australia flight within reasonable time and the from-Australia flight some distant time in the future (perhaps when you would like to go back to ATH).

Considering there are some pretty cash poor people in ATH right now (or at least a sizable number of them about to lose significant wages or benefits) I guess all of them could use a break ;) :p (no offence to any Greeks on the forum)

There are no cash poor Greeks in Athens. Only cashed up Greeks.
Its the Government thats cash poor due to the above never paying tax, water rates, land rates, death duties, gst, and any other of the 5000 Australian taxes that we pay.

So it seems Emirates are trying to get hold of the local Greeks excess cash before the Government does......lol.

Do you agree JohnK?

Recently flew F on the MEL-KUL service. I was op-upped from J. Lovely way to travel in those private suites. I've heard that the F service on the A380 is even higher quality again; can anyone point out what extra features there are on the A380 F service versus the A340/B777?

The suites are the same on the A380

The only difference is that there are 2 showers at the front of the cabin. Personally I prefer the 777 to the 380 since there are only 8 suites on the 777 and the A380 services tend to be a lot more popular. Not had more than 5 passengers out of 8 suites on the 777 vs full cabin on a380

A colleague of mine bought an EK cheap fare on their website SIN/DXB/ATH/DXB/SIN for less than $1,000.00 then bought a separate ticket on JQ specal DRW/SIN/DRW for AUD161.00 return including taxes.

A good example of how to get two return trips to Athens - First trip: Forward leg of cheap ticket Oz to ATH over then forward leg of J class EK fare 'home' ATH to Oz.

Second trip: Return leg of EK J fare back which is essentially your outbound flight from Oz to ATH then return sector of your cheapie fare ATH back to Oz.

Enjoy.

Cheers

I mightn't be JohnK, but I do have Greek heritage, that is exactly what goes on.

Indeed, that is a good way to do it. Last year we did a similar thing, except on Qatar Airways - SIN-DOH-ATH rtn about $900pp and used FF redemption PER-SIN rtn on QF.

Any idea of conditions and dates available? I can't seem to find this offer on their website. Or is it available on a 3rd party website?

EK 1st is very pleasant indeed and the nicest 1st I have used. Even their business class is imo a very high quality product ; if they are in Cyprus then the fares are pretty decent price out of LCA for LCA-DXB-SYD
