Just bought 4 tickets to coughet via BKK for a total of $3.5K

We were waiting for direct flights to be released by Jetstar, but we went for one stop.

Flying BA (SYD-BKK) then Thai for the short leg.

Booked on Webjet. Even on BA's website you couldn't get the SYD-BKK for anywhere near that.

AND it's flying over Christmas. I would have used points but it would have cost a gazillion more than normal due to the dates.

The downside? It's scum class. But hey, we're flying with our 5yo. Flip up the armrests and my seat width increases by a good 20% (she doesn't use much room).

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that Webjet was cheaper than Kayak/Zuji for sniffing out airlines like QF/BA - I'll keep this in mind. I'm guessing SYD-BKK is on QF metal as BA is scrapping their BKK-SYD service this March.

That's a pretty good deal over Christmas.

Personally, I like the Virgin Australia flights to coughet via Perth. Over Christmas, their fares are $963 return for SYD-PER-HKT. If you are living in Sydney then your BA option is pretty good. For the rest of us the VA option is nice because it is similar price and we get to avoid both SYD and BKK.

Really? I did the HKT-PER-MEL DJ flight a year ago and it was one of the worst flights I have ever been on. The HKT-PER flight is too long for the 737 DJ-business model!

I wish VA still did the 777 MEL-HKT route. Now THAT was a good flight!

I'm still not sure what you mean but......is it that you think the plane will run out of fuel?:)

This was back when it was the normal DJ LCC business model.

- 6 hour flight
- narrow body aircraft
- IFE only works over Australian airspace (last 1/3 of trip)
- no hot food
- painfully slow f&d drinks (first took 90 minutes after take off)
- packed to the rafters with bogan bucks parties

I flew there V Australia, back Virgin Blue. The differences between the flights was staggering.

There are those who think that 6 hours in a narrow body is way too long.

Yeah, I think I'm with you on this one.
But just to clarify........the seats are the same and the pitch is the same/similar between narrow body and wide body aircraft. Is that not correct? If so, it is really the (less cramped) feeling of being in the the wider body aircraft that is the main difference; is that right. Or.......is there some air pressure (or other) difference that is also of significance?

I certainly prefer the 777 over the 737 and the A330 over the A320, but I thought it was just in my head, not a real difference in the actual seat.

I think you are spot on there.
