Re: June 2013

Hi JessicaTam, I think unfortunately the CHC lounge opens at 0400 (2 hours before first international flight, which is. 0600).
*insert rude word*

I hope the airport couches are comfy!
Not in CHC international departures or pre immigration. Mostly very basic cheap chairs (not couches). There 2 or 3 better massage type chairs, in the international departures area, you can "hire" for $$ or just sit in. Worth checking if the terminal building is even open in after midnight. Will be a little fresh & invigorating camping outside on 01 June

Oh well, there are a couple of hotels close by.

Re: June 2013

I'm doing almost exactly that (staying CHC 0000-0645) next month. I'm thinking a nearby hotel, but jeez they're expensive!

Yep, they are. And not just that, taxis to local hotels are very expensive too.

Re: June 2013

I'll move these posts shortly, but I have slept at CHC quite a few times.

Last time was in August with the terminal half complete.

They had a reserved area of carpet in the arrivals haul about 15 metres by 10 where people were permitted to rest - ear plugs and eye-mask the order of the day.

Check in indeed opened 4am - BUT emmigration did not open until 4:30am.

After that it was straight through to the AirNZ lounge for a shower and a feed.

I'll see if this has changed and how it is in two weeks ;)

Was at CHC 2 weeks ago. Public area near complete. But work is still happening in other areas.

Re: June 2013

Thanks for starting the thread, serfty. It was digressing a bit!

Thanks for the update Mwenenzi. They did anounce some works complete recently.

Re: June 2013

When I was there last August, it was only the arrivals (immigration/customs/meeting hall) that had not been finished - thats where the 'backpacker' sleep corral was.

I would imagine a different environment now. Anyway I can report back in two weeks.

Looking forward to it, serfty.

I've got a 0000-0645 and 0000-0600 coming up there, May and July respectively.

Hmmm, isn't there a website about sleeping over in airports, think i checked it last year when i slept overnight in ATL...

Just take a little kit of things to make it more comfortable..

And so why all the over-nighting again?? :)

Sounds like an A54 to me!

Yep, A54 and A80 for me! Unfortunately dropping third leg on both.
Perfectly sane, right?
