Following two previous giveaways here and here I have two further AA SWUs to giveaway by way of an easy competition.

As for the July 2014 giveaway:

I have decided not to be involved in selecting the winner. If you wish to apply for an upgrade certificate, please send an email to [email protected] with the title "AA upgrade" and short (maximum 30 words) motivating statement as to why you believe you should win the two upgrades (ie. one winner of both SWUs). Please send your email by 2pm WST on 27 April 2015. The winner will be selected by the AFF moderation team based on the creativity and ingenuity of the motivating statement. The decision will be final. The winner will be posted on this thread and be contacted by PM within seven days of the close of the competition. Anyone who has been an AFF member since 1 September 2014 and who has made at least 25 posts can apply. AFF moderators and administrators are obviously excluded, as are existing AAdvantage Executive Platinum members (I'm trying to share the love) and winners in either of my two giveaways last year. If you're a solo traveler and only need one SWU, by all means bid. If you're successful a second winner can have the second SWU, at the moderators' discretion.

Drron and serfty are the resident AA gurus who know more about the SWUs than me and I'm sure they'd be happy to answer your questions about how they work. But some points to note:

  1. The flight you're looking to upgrade must be both marketed and operated by AA.
  2. Checking availability of an upgrade is difficult if you're not an AA EXP. Therefore, throw your hat in the ring and if you win we'll check availability. If it's there, it's yours; if there's no space you can be waitlisted.
  3. Each SWU is valid for (I think) up to three flight segments on the same ticket. So, for example, if you're flying LAX-DFW-JFK-LHR, a single SWU will cover all flights.
  4. You must be travelling on a paid ticket (not an award).
  5. You'll get the most bang for your buck on AA's new A321 trans-con aircraft travelling between JFK and LAX and SFO, as well as the upgraded 777s but it's entirely up to you as to which flight(s) you hope to use the certificate on.
Any questions relating to criteria for the competition (in case there's something I've missed) should be posted here but I'll leave answering up to a moderator - it's now their competition to run.

Very generous offer again Danger

I do have AA flights booked, but they're already in F (J) already so I don't have a need at the moment.
