Hi all,

Hoping to get some help with a booking that I would like to make at the Intercontinental Sydney in mid Jan for 1 night. The Mrs and I are going to have a cheeky 1 night stopover in SYD before commencing on our USDM redemption to Europe.

Best rate that I can find is currently $414 for a club room that includes breakfast. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how a cheaper price can be achieved (i.e. sign up bonuses or xfers to IHG or even a good deal on a hotel broker website?)

Also open to options for other hotels but the IC looks amazing and I've always wanted to try it out. Any thoughts or comments welcome :)

Their service is exceptional. We love it there. If you join ambassador program you can stay 2 weekend nights for price of one. $414 is higher than usual price.

It was a great hotel but they turned me off with all the rules re club access and the dated rooms. at the time I was an RA and struggled to gain club entry (which is the main reason you go there).

However go and enjoy the experience!!!

There's a website you can go to that if you book a standard room you automatically get club access complimentary . Hope that helps once again.

They're a Virtuoso partner hotel so when booking on a Virtuoso rate it comes with Club Lounge upgrade FOC as well as upgrade and amenities FOC.

Brilliant mate - Would love to see pics of the club room. $351 I think was the F&F rate for a club room so I'm pretty happy with that.

I have a couple of photos I took 2 weeks ago, will try to post them when I have time at the weekend. As markis10 indicated the rooms are no different to the non-club rooms, just the location in the hotel varies. The bathrooms were the main let down of this hotel in my opinion, there is nothing in the least bit luxurious about them - very basic. The service in the club is excellent. The club itself is pretty good. Not as good as lounges in Asia, but for Australia it is better than most.

Hi Shaynee2233 - Could you elaborate further or PM me the details?

Was doing a bit of research on FF Rate was looking at this older thread. were/are you asked for the Voucher as it states in the Rate Conditions?

Hotels have been inconsistent with that, some do some don't.

We are IHG Platinum. Best way to get a club room is book a normal room and expect an upgrade. Cheap at any price. Agree rooms are no different but service is better.

err thanks but not referring to IHG Plats. you can expect all your like it's not guaranteed. am enquiring about IC Ambassador.

I emailed the IC Sydney and (4 days later) they responded confirming that AMB benefits are available on F&F rates inc specifically the room upgrade. She also confirmed what markis and others have said that you need to book Opera house view room to get a suite upgrade and to get club in upgrade you need to have booked club in booking. I don't think you can book this room online though, at least thats what the told me when I called them up.
