Hi All,

I just spotted this today: Melbourne Cup Hat Valet Service for Sydney Lounge | Virgin Australia | Virgin Australia

Really want to do a run Melbourne Cup Day:
Pancakes MEL Lounge
Fly to Sydney
Blow dry/make up/ drinks/chillout in the SYD lounge
Fly back Business.

Is anyone else up for this?

Yes, I know its a waste of points. I have plenty, and earn plenty. I work my butt off, can spend them however I like. :)

Would love not to do this trip on my own!

Can't help (I'm a bloke), but what a great idea by Virgin to fill half full return flights! I told my wife, who thinks it's fantastic. This sort of thing reinforces my belief that Virgin will eventually replace Qantas as the airline of choice.

Thanks for the comment Blinky! Indeed I think it's a fabulous idea. It's almost part and parcel that different genders carry different things when flying, that need different care. I've always longed for a spa experience (even a paid one) in the virgin lounge. I'm pretty sure this is as close as I will get.

The only downside is those that don't live in Sydney/Melbourne. The other lounges/ports do tend to get largely ignored in this sort of promotional thing. Which is a right shame (being originally from QLD).

And thanks to you.

My shame is that I've gone from five years Virgin Gold, and nearly Platinum to Silver to Red next April.

Never thought I'd miss frequent flying, but I do.

First world problems and all.....

I feel you. Recently went from 2 flights a week to 2 flights a month on average. I get a bit twitchy when I don't have my next flight lined up. All the more reason to book this Melbourne cup day trip :)

Hi FIFOSuit, what a brilliant idea! If you do go ahead with your plans, we'll be happy to throw in a bottle of something lovely for your stop at the SYD lounge. Could you please PM us with your details if you do proceed so that we can organise this? Please double check with our website for the dates and times to ensure you're there at the right day/time. :)

Hi FIFOsuit, sounds like a lovely idea esp w' the generosity of VA. Hope you get some takers otherwise you'll be drinking :p on your own.

Thank you Velocity!! What an offer :) Renewed my energy to find someone to join in this with me. I'll let you know as soon as I book. It'll be 7am MEL-SYD and 11:5 SYD-MEL (at a guess) on the 4th of November.

FIFOsuits, I'm sorry to say my boss has organised for me to work in Portland on Melb Cup day,
But I gave been granted a 4 day weekend the following weekend, so I booked myself a nice weekend sortie to Townsville!
I'll have to play giddy up... Up there!
Enjoy Sydney on Tues!
Avid

Cheers Avid, sorry to hear you have to work! I'm sooo excited for this trip. Maybe I'll make friends with some of the virgin peeps :) Or maybe I'll just enjoy reading the paper :)

Enjoy townsville! Going to be hot up there.

Cheers guys! Sorry for the late reply, I didn't take my laptop today for obvious reasons. Flight back was half empty, so I took two tote bags on board. I'll write a full trip report soon but it was an incredible day. And yes, that's me on the facebook page :)

Had to laugh at the guy posting on facebook "I would have used my points for flights". I did, cough.
